I have used other brands and the lead seems to break really easy Bic has strong leads and isva brand that you can trust and depend on. When drawing you can even uses this product for diffrent shading techniques.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bic Velocity mechanical pencils are big improvement to the generic mechanical pencils. The lead holds up much better, breaks rarely and is retractable. The eraser has a lid to protect it and makes it easier if you need to throw it in your bag. The pack of pencils also comes with extra lead and erasers, so its really a great value.

Where is the color?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all I need to say that in general I don't like to use mechanical pencils. I never had. I don't like how they feel, I don't like how they write and I don't like that the lead brakes all the time. That been said I still was a little excited to try the BIC Velocity mechanical pencils because I thought they were different. They looked so colorful I was under the impression they were colored pencils! Unfortunately I got very disappointed because they are not! The orange one writes gray, the yellow one writes grey, well you get the picture. What a disappointment. I feel like I was misled, so was my son, who too thought they were going to be colored pencils. On the other hand, my daughter, somehow, knew they were regular mechanical pencils so her expectations were not as high and she enjoyed using them. I still have the problem with the lead that breaks too easily. Also when I try to erase I guess I must be pushing too hard because I cause the lead to come out. I am ok with that because long ago I came to the conclusion that mechanical pencils are not for me but I still am upset that the packaging was very misleading, for me anyway. It looks like they are colored pencils.

They were very excited to put these mechanical pencils in their backpacks for the year. The love the colors and that they came with white erasers.
