[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have a daughter starting high school this year and a mechanical pencil is a must! Our daughter loves the colors and how smoothly they write. Compared to generic pencils, the Big Velocity seems to hold up and erase better than many on the market. She insists that a mechanical pencil is important in all her subjects to correct mistakes and hold up when writing and solving problems. The Bic Velocity is a solid mechanical pencil that delivers all the needs of the modern student.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter was very excited to see the colors the pencils arrived in and she quickly took the purple one for herself. She is in the 7th grade now. She used the pencil at home to do some of her home work and practice math problems. According to her the writing was quite bold and she liked the look and color of the lead. Sometimes it did feel a bit rough depending on the angle, otherwise overall it was smooth. The lead did not break at all even if you pressed hard for darker writing.

My high school student didn't like them as much. The middle schoolers enjoyed the colorful barrels and where satisfied with the quality. My high schooler wasn't impressed by the colorfulness. So what that tells me these are fantastic for the younger grades.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter and I each got a pack of 5 BICÆ VelocityÆ Mechanical Pencils. These pencils are awesome! I like how the end is sort of like a pen, and can retract back with the lead. The lead is super smooth! We used these with drawing too and it's pretty easy to sketch with! You can shade and even blend with these! One of the things I like the most is not only do you you get 5 pencils, you get a refill of the lead AND erasers! It's pretty much the perfect set for school, work, or play!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids are pretty happy any time they get something new. It is me that is pleasantly surprised with these pencils! I am amazed with the fact that the lead doesn't break with each word you write like traditional mechanical pencils. I like the bright colors too. I could take or leave the eraser and I don't care for the cap on it. Apparently if you lose the eraser the pencil is trash. So, I guess that's not great but again, the saying power of the lead is to die for!

I really like how the pencils come with extra lead and erasers since its back to school time and my kiddos will go through a lot of lead this year. The bright colors are just what the kids want in a pencil and they have a nice padding for your finger, for all day writing at school.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first glance I like them!! The colors a pretty and bright. You get five in a pack (who doesn't like that), and you get extra lead and erasers (I personally need those). I also like the fact that they put a rubber grip around the pencil so that it's comfortable for your fingers. I love the idea that your pencil doesn't look like everyone else's (boring yellow/gold wooden pencil). Why not stand out a bit with something pretty. The lead (I found ) writes smooth (no bumps or catches on the paper) which sometimes happens. Also the eraser does erase well, but I wouldn't mind if it did a little better at it's job. I personally would like it to be more clean. I will say the look is original for a pencil, only because I was asked more then once if I was using a pen or a pencil (the reaction was always a surprise when I said a pencil). Over all I like the Bic Velocity pencil and will continue to use it (since I have 5 to choose from!)

Smooth writing mechanical pencil!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are not like the old mechanical pencils we all know. These new BIC Velocity Mechanical Pencils are super comfortable to hold and write very smoothly. My biggest complaints about a standard mechanical pencil is the lead can squeak as you are writing and it breaks really easily. The lead in these pencils glide across the paper. Everyone in my family has staked their claim to a pencil and uses them all the time! The design looks like a ball point pen and there is a lot of support for the lead and I haven't had it break as easily as the other designs. Can it break, well sure, it is a thin piece of lead, but the pencil design is awesome! I like that there is a cap over the eraser keeping it nice and inline with the pen design. The extra erasers and lead it comes with is an added bonus. This is by far my favorite mechanical pencil!
