They feel super sturdy, more like a pen than a pencil, and they truly do write super smoothly. If you want to engage your kids and get them excited for back to school, consider picking up a package (or two) of Bic Velocity mechanical pencils

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got a chance to try out these wonderful pencils for free. Usually when you make an assumption all pencils are same this is where most people will be wrong. These are high quality, extremely durable, comes with lead and eraser refills, very easy to grip and hold, has a rubber handle to write for a while and never feel strain on your finger. Its smoothness is the biggest selling point. At first I thought it was a gel pen. That is how smooth it writes. I could never thing of it being a pencil. I had my son try it out and he was amazed that it was a pencil. He said it glides on paper just like a pen and almost ink liquid type not lead. But truly it is lead just great quality lead. Best quality pencils out there.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think that BICVelocity Mechanical Pencils are Probably one of the best back to school purchases I have made so far this year. Normally my son gets super frustrated on how the lead breaks on his usual mechanical pencils. But, not these. The led seems thicker and stronger. I love the fact that the barrel of the pencil is also wider and has a grip. It makes doing homework much more comfortable. Most of you will also enjoy that it comes with extra erasers and lead. No more having to make separate purchases or multiple packages of pencils. This is a money saver for sure!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With so many choices on the market, I think that the Bic Velocity Mechanical Pencil should be a top pick. My middle school aged daughter was very excited to use these to start off the new school year. She loved the bright colors and said they write well and she liked that the pencil lead doesn't break off when writing, like some other brands do. They write smooth and nice and I noticed that her handwriting is significantly better when using these pencils compared to a standard pencil. They are always sharp and ready to go. They have a comfortable grip, which helps when having to write all day at school. We will buy these again.

In general I stay away from Mechanical pencils as they seem cheap and break easily. So far this has not been the case. I have used them and my 12 year old daughter takes them to school.
