I wanted to like this tape. Was very pleased with the thickness, the feel and it did unroll easily. HOWEVER, like most of the negative reviews, it does not stick! How can anything sticky not stick to cardboard??? Somehow this doesn't. If you are shipping anything, do not trust this tape. If you're trying to seal anything besides cardboard, like a plastic shipping tote/crate, etc..., forget about it. It will not stay on before it arrives to its destination. I have to run multiple full circumferential strips of tape to seal a cardboard box and then run strips perpendicular to tape the tape and then cross my fingers. I have taped a shipping label printed on regular paper to a shipping tote by completely covering the label and it was lost because the label came off. The only reason it was found was because of the little tag that FedEx puts on packages with pre-printed labels. Great feel and strength but just doesn't stick.

Worst Scotch Product for long term use.

I’ve been using Scotch tapes most of my life. This “sure start” tape is the first line I could never recommend! It sticks to paper just fine and is very easy to pull off the roll- BUT it does NOT stick to itself! Any slight bump or roll over will pull off all tape that has been taped to another piece of tape. I purchase approximately ten 6 packs per year. This “sure start” is cheaper but is also CHEAP- JUNK. Buy only the red or blue rolls. Heavy Duty is the best!!!

Don’t use for shipping

This was on sale and I bought it seal shipping boxes. I made up a stack of boxes the started filling them and the tape is separating from the boxes before there’s even anything in them. Also, when I put it on the tape gun, I keep pulling out too long a strip because it pulls off the tape wheel too easily. It’s making shipping take longer because I have to check every seam and readhere it.

No good.

This product is no good. The guide tabs are too far from the blade, which means that the tape keeps falling away from the blade and having to be reset. I don't understand how anyone can like this product.

COME ON, THIS ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE

HEY, I am sick and tired of having feet of unused tape cluttering the countertop while I try to coax your wasteful dispenser to provide me with a few inches of usable tape. Would it not be more thoughtful to have, imprinted on the tape itself, an indication of the direction the tape should be dispensed. And what's the logic behind not imprinting the silver start strip with some indication of it's orientation on the roll, i.e. LIFT THIS EDGE....
Come on, this isn't rocket science.

Not intuitive

I've had this for years and still struggle with which way the roll of tape is supposed to face in the dispenser. I eventually figure it out and then forget by the time the next roll is needed. How about a video on scotch brand.com?

Everytime I applied this to my package the tape lifted off and would not stick. Its advertised as a great shipping tape.

Quality Control going down the tubes!

I too have had strong faith is 3M products since that was pretty much the norm in our household since I was a child. I also use to work for a packaging company in Minnesota & I found they were extremally caring about how our packaging quality was. So I have been using their packaging tape for my shipments to customers for several years & this "sure start" is just horrible & doesn't stick to most cardboard boxes. I'm done as I don't have time to worry if my shipment is going to make it without loss.
I don't know where it is made, but I hope you look into your quality control before everyone stops buying your products.
