This coffee is great on it's own or with food. It has enough flavor to wake you up in the morning and not so much as to overpower what you consume with it.
I love this coffee! I have been on the search for what feels like an eternity to find a darker roast that doesn't taste 'burnt' or 'bitter' and this fits the bill perfectly! I was previously using a french press and ignore my Keurig machine as all the 'bold' or 'dark roast' coffee's I tried just weren't strong enough or left me wanting more. If you like a decent cup of coffee to actually wake you up and enjoy i highly recommend this one! Is you feel this isn't strong enough, go with the French roast, but I feel there Italian by Barista is perfect.
I got one of these K cups in a variety pack. I was optimistic because I like other Italian Roast coffees. Brewed the coffee on the middle size of 5 choices (so 10 oz?). Sure smelled good, but had hardly any taste. Bummer. I know people who like really weak coffee; I'd recommend it to them. I'm not planning to buy any more for myself, though.
Excellant strong coffee. Received the free Barista Prima Mug sent in 3 pin codes on specially marked boxes. The mug is large so holds all cup choices. Its top heavy , spilled once already. Very nice mug to enjoy your coffee.
This is what an Italian roast should be. It has a smokiness that takes the flavor just far enough so you can inhale it, but no so far as to stick in the back of your throat. It also surpasses any blend I have tried so far, as they always lose some of the characteristic deep, smoke flavor in exchange for something watery or at the other extreme become so cheap as to taste like rocket fuel. This is as good an Italian roast as you will get at most restaurants, and as good as I have produced using a press, back before I was given a Keurig machine. It's 10 years old and still going strong.
It took me months to decide what coffees I wanted to buy once I bought my Keurig. It came with 4 boxes of various flavors/roasts and buying the sampler 5 packs from the Keurig website also helped me narrow down my preferences. I like strong, assertive, bold coffee that isn't bitter--I actually used a spreadsheet to track my experiments and blends. The winner--Barista Prima Intalian Roast brewed at 8 oz and Barista Prima French Roast brewed at 2 oz in the same cup. This brew is clean, bold and not bitter--better than anything else I dreamt up and tried. My little con (and this is for all K-cups) is that I have to take them apart so that the cups can be recycled. If you like strong, bold coffee, you can't go wrong with this.
