I recently bought a Keurig and initially bought the Cafe Caramel coffee kcups and did not like the flavor. Then I tried the Donut Shop Iced Coffee flavor and did not like it. So I finally busted open the variety pack that came with my Keurig and tried this flavor and I was blown away! So much flavor and so smooth! My go to flavor from now on!
Although I commented favorably on this excellent roast a few years back, I feel I should reiterate that this roast continues to be one of my favorite dark roasts. I have tried most of the available dark roasts and this one is unparalleled. I order it again and again. For the best, deepest flavor, I recommend brewing the 6 oz cup size.
Of all the K-Cups I've tried, Barista Prima Italian Roast is by far my favorite. Bold but not bitter, this coffee strikes the right balance. Tastes like a fine coffee from an expensive coffee house. This coffee is usually pretty expensive, but buying in bulk from this website seems to be the cheapest option.
Up front let me admit I love the full bodied well roasted but not burnt to a crisp coffees. I was afraid that Keurig would have gone with one of those Americanized imitations of what some roasters see as Italian roast coffee – in other words burnt to a crisp. I was wonderfully surprised. When made with 8 ounces of water it was a flat and watery (to me) but when made with 4 to 6 ounces of water it is a good, solid cup without any of the burnt taste prevalent in many Americanized Italian wannabees. I dusted off one of my old standard coffee cups (4 to 6 oz) and it was very good. My quick and dirty workaround to the 4 to 6 ounce cup size problem is to make two cups and pour them into my big mug to take care of my immediate Italian roast coffee fix. Unfortunately I went through all 5 sample pods in that one sitting so now am waiting for more. All in all, this is a good Italian roast coffee. For those who are still not sure if they want to drink on the dark side, don't be afraid to try this. You will be happily surprised.
Good strong flavor, but no bitterness or "ashy" taste. My spouse and I consider this one of our favorites. Great for first thing in the morning or after a meal.
This coffee is unpleasant and not at all tolerable. I let my brother taste it, because he enjoys strong coffee. He made a face and we poured it out! This and one other brand are the only ones we've done this with. I would not recommend.
Cons: Unbalanced Or Sharp Acidity, Unpleasant Aftertaste, Bitter, Unpleasant Flavor
