I love very dark roast coffee that does not taste burnt. This is the one. I have tried all of the dark roasts of all of the brands, and this is my absolute favorite. Most are just not strong enough, or they are so strong that they have a bitter taste. Double Diamond is hardy but smooth and only needs a splash of creamer. Delicious!
A cup of this fresh out of the Keurig, some real cream drizzled in, the Sunday paper spread out before me and my dog at my feet is how I enjoy this coffee. No halfway coffee here, this is the real thing. It's no ordinary cup of Joe, it's Joe's drill sergeant.
I like very strong coffee. Green Mountain Black Diamond has been my far-and-away favorite so far, so I figured that Double Diamond would be even better. I just tried it today, and I was very disappointed. Yes, it's strong, but it seems to lack the rich coffee flavor of Black Diamond. It's a very bitter brew, and I'm not looking forward to finishing out the two boxes that I bought (due to my high hopes). Since I make two-pod cups, maybe I'll blend a Double Diamond pod with another type to make it more palatable.
We have been using this blend for years. We used to get a great cup of coffee...good aroma and nice bold flavor. However, occasionally I seem to get a box that is weak. That seems to be happening with the current box we are using. So far each pod has brewed a weak, tasteless cup of coffee with none of the taste we look forward to and seem lighter than usual. I like strong coffee, and always use the middle button for my cup. I am so disappointed! We have come to depend on Keurig, especially this blend, and now I wonder if this problem will continue and why each box is not consistent? Is it intentional?
