Great pen, writes on receipt paper

I like this pen a lot. Has a great feel, it fits in the hand well, has a loop for things like a lanyard, The pen writes very smooth, and will work on receipt paper, which is not easy to do for even my f701 and f301 pens. Over all is is a great pen, much lighter feel than the f701. I work outside a lot in the heat, and here in Florida the temps can be in the upper 90s, and inside the vehicles much higher, so far this ink hold up as well as the ink from the f701 and f301.

Ehh...not mad, just disappointed

I absolutely love the F-701 all metal retractable pen. I had high hopes when reading about this one. Although the pen writes very well, I was disappointed in the weight of it, the barrel feels plastic. Also, the paint/coating started coming off of it after only a few days, that was very disappointing. Can't say I won't buy it again, but I may wait until maybe some upgrades happen ü§û...one of my students liked it so much they ""borrowed"" it and forgot to tell me or bring it back!

Nice pen, just a little light

It is a nice pen. I like the beefiness of the gripping area, and the ink writes well. My only disappointment is the weight. It is very light. I was hoping for something a little weightier like the G450, G750, or F701. It is not a fragile pen by any means! but it's size makes it feel hollow. Outside of that I like the grip, and it writes well, and feels good in my larger hand!

I had the pen for about 5 years, through 4 refills. Like the paint had worn pretty significantly. I work retail so it kept people from stealing it up until last week üòë I would definitely buy it again, but it is hard to find not online.

Lightweight, solidly built pen. But manage your expectations

I've been an avid user of Zebra pens for more than 30 years. I first used the Zebra F-301while in flight school in college. The ink in the F-301 didn't glob up on paper (like nearly every single other pen I'd used previously), and the ink seemed to last a long time. Then, when Zebra introduced the F-701 steel pen I upgraded to it and have exclusively used this pen since then. It's a great pen, very solid, and on me every day as part of my EDC. Plus, in a pinch it can be used for self defense. Now to the X-701, which I just purchased today. It has a great tactical look and feel. It's noticeably thicker and longer than the F-701, but is also lighter. The X-701 is matte black throughout, with the exception of the plunger, which is relatively shiny black plastic. The barrel, tip and clip are stainless steel and the grip is plastic. The pen features a plastic loop near the plunger that is listed as being for a lanyard. Not sure how useful this is, but it's a unique design feature and doesn't get in the way of writing. Unlike the F-701 the plunger stays inside the barrel when the pen is extended. I like this because it's another visual and physical cue that the pen is extended – a small detail that will help ensure the pen is retracted before putting it away. The X-701 also comes with 0.7mm ink vs 0.8mm for the F-701. I'm used to the F-701's 0.8mm ink and writing with the X feels very smooth but the tip seems just a little but sharp – almost like I may puncture the page. Not sure why they chose to use a finer point on the X but it's not too bad, and writes great. Also worth noting that you can't use the F-701 refills in the X, though my X came with two extra refills. In conclusion, while the X-701 has some neat features (pressurized barrel & lanyard loop) I'm not sure it's the ""Extreme"" version I was hoping for. Nevertheless, I'm going to use this as my EDC for a few months and see how it holds up.
