They are great, I love that I can cancel out background noise , however, they fall out of my ears kind of easy.

Great sound! However, it doesn’t stay, keeps falling off. Used all 3 sizes that came with it, still not good. Have to keep securing frequently. Noise reduction feature is awesome !

Difficult to use, poor docs

I have other bluetooth earphones that work, but these are flakey. They appear to be defective (not exhibiting proper charging behavior) but it's difficult to tell due to the design and poor documentation. They will only connect to an iPod if the case is connected to a laptop (ie the case is powered?). I've left them inside the case with the case charging (wired) overnight several times. A long chat with Apple Support was not successful in determining whether or not they are defective.
At some point I saw a battery indicator of 33%, but they won't connect to an iPod without the Airpod's case connected to a laptop. I suspect the battery is simply not charging and the battery indicator is inaccurate.
A factory reset did not improve the situation.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I recently bought these and they are amazing! The quality & sound is fantastic. Easy to carry them and connect with all my Apple devices... they sound like Bose speakers in your ears and love the noise cancelation option. Buy them, you will be happy :)

Very Good Sounding but Not Comfortable

I absolutely loved the anc and transparency modes but I noticed the second I put them in that they were quite painful in my ears and kept falling out, but all ears are different and if not for the discomfort I would definitely give these 5 stars.
