Quick, reliable connections - feature poor

These airpods are unfortunately a replacement to my Bragi Dash set. The airpods connect very quickly to both my iPhone and Apple Watch. If you don't want them listening to everything you do, that's essentially all they do well. You cannot adjust the volume; they have no windshield mode other than complete noise cancellation. They do not track your fitness routine or respond to head gestures. They do have adequate sound; but you would be better served going for the cheaper set until Apple decides that you want these features.

Outstanding

I had the regular AirPods and there was so much outside noise leaking in. It was suitable for people who want to listen to music while listening to their surroundings. I needed it for the gym so that I could isolate all unnecessary sounds. I ended up blasting the volume on the regular AirPods.
But
With the new AirPods Pro, I have the option to isolate all sounds without maximizing the volume with a press of a button (Noise Cancellation).
At times if I ever wanted to be aware of my surroundings, I can use the “Transparency” mode. It uses the microphones outside to amplify the sound.
It’s a bit expensive but totally worth it.

Really not good

Not worth it at all.
2 months after purchase and the battery life is 2 hours.
They sit terribly in my ear, they slide out with all ear tip sizes.
They behave like old technology right off the bat, with pairing issues and many instances where only one ear is detected. Not worth it at all, a downgrade from the normal airpods.

Best airpods

This is my first pair of airpods and they are the best i’ve tried other pairs of airpods and they usually fall out while running and with the pros that’s no longer a issue I can go on a bike ride and they won’t fall out. And the active noise-cancellation is the best part about these. They are also super comfortable in your ears. 10/10 recommend

Junk

Junk. Bluetooth cuts out, cracklings sounds, music is unbalanced and sometimes only one earbud works. Brand new only 2 weeks old, will be returning them this week. Not worth the money. Sounds quality isn’t great and they don’t get loud

Best Apple product in years

I bought these to assist with filtering out ambient background noise when studying. Also I was a bit tired of the flat sounding bass heavy Powerbeats I owned for a few years. They are hands down the most exciting apple product I’ve bought since my first iPhone. They sound very good, particularly with the noise cancellation on. It muffles most background annoyances while still emphasizing things that may be important like annoucenments. I only realized after a week or so the case not only charges on the charger, but charges the Airpods as you go without needing plugged in. This is useful as the only downside is the shorter battery life as compared to other wireless headphones. This limitation is mitigated by the case and an acceptable sacrifice to get noise cancellation in such a tiny package. The only other annoyance is there’s no way to control volume without touching the phone or using Siri. I’m not a fan of talking to my headphones in public so I tend to use the phone. Not a deal breaker but a touch sensitive way to do volume would have been nice. Overall a top notch product. The noise cancellation really makes these useful when walking about, studying and the gym. I was happy that the cancellation blocks most of the noise created when jogging. Having the feature off reminded me way normal earbuds are awful.

Potential to be great, but falls short

First, let me say that if these were in the same price category as a lot of other wireless buds (around 250 CDN) then I'd be giving them 3 stars. But the sheer premium you pay for these raises my expectations more and every shortcoming becomes more painful at that higher price. I have returned these in favor of the Jaybird Vistas.
The good:
- Very comfortable
- ANC is really cool, and passthrough is handy
The bad:
- Sound. My biggest complaint is the sound quality. These have a nice flat frequency response, which usually I love because then I can set my EQ up to whatever I like with very good results. However, Apple has decided that you do not need to be able to configure your own EQ. This is a shame because when I boost the bass a bit on the Spotify EQ, they sounds really great! They have great clarity and separation, but just need more bass. Such an easy fix with an equalizer. But if I use the Spotify EQ, when I plug in any other headphones or it connects in my car, I have to turn the Spotify EQ off every time I switch because that level of bass is obscene for devices without such a flat native frequency response and I get crazy clipping and artifacts at the low end. If Apple would let me just configure my own EQ for the buds themselves, I wouldn't have returned them. But without the EQ, they just don't sound pleasing for me.
-The fit. I just can't get a fit where it doesn't constantly feel like the left bud is falling out. It doesn't, at least not for a long time, but if I'm walking and moving, it's a bit disconcerting and it will eventually come out.
