Mobile Scanner

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I was looking for a mobile scanner. I usually use my phone or work fax/printer for scanning purposes. Overall, I liked this product. Pros:Compact- It was small, relatively speaking. It`s about the size of a compact umbrella so it could fit in a tote bag. Mobile- You can travel with it in a tote or laptop bag. Only a usb cord is needed. Weighs a pound or two.Quality- The images uploaded were good quality/resolution.Operation- Very simple to use. Didn`t require much directions.Durability- It is sturdy and solid. I would take alot of force to break it.Cons:Connectivity- There was no wifi or bluetooth connection. It would be great to have this option and make the scanning completely mobile. I would love to scan and upload wireless as an option.Installation- I had some difficulty with installing the software initially. I believe the software needed to simplified to only one step. A simple install once screen. The application prompted to install other programs once I got to the home screen of the brother application. The space it took up on computer was a bit much. I would deter people from installing it on multiple devices which defeats the purpose of being mobile.Memory- It lacked a slot for a micro sd card or any memory to be stored.Operation- It didn`t have a pop out tab to guide papers through.

Scanning On The Go!

For me, the huge benefit to this little scanner is that I can use it in my car. I work with a cat rescue group, mostly transporting cats and kittens to and from a clinic, where they are tested, vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Keeping track of their treatment is important, as many go on to cat adoption organizations who require a record of their treatment. We receive a paper copy from the clinic, and for added security, I scan this into my computer as well. Since the paperwork stays with the cat, being able to scan the paperwork on our way to drop them off saves time. I take my Apple MacBook and this scanner with me and I can set the scanner up on the dashboard, connect the cable and I’m in business. I did try a cheaper hand scanner, but the image wasn’t satisfactory. It was hard to scan the document smoothly and what I ended up with was smaller than I wanted. This scanner is not much bigger and it draws in the document to scan it, so the quality of the scan is excellent.

For a portable scanner, it gets the job done. I scanned a bunch of things with this scanner. It has a little slot that moves to help guide the thing that you are scanning. It works great on papers or pictures that are thicker than usual. I tried to scan receipts and it had a hard time cause the receipts are very thin. One thing it does well is auto crop the thing you scanned. Overall it`s pretty good, super easy to set up took me like 10 mins. If you`re on the go or space is limited this thing is looking to get.

I found the scanner provided to me free of charge as a reviewer. I found the scanner quite reliable and helpful for my small business needs for scanning. I was quite impressed with the portability factor of this item and the many quality functions as it has in solving my problems when it comes to daily scanning needs, whether they be high volume on low. I highly recommend this product and I found it greatly efficient to be able to pool my data and needs into one small portability scanner such as this one. I think this will be great addition to my os all business and we will be using it quite often.
