Refurbished who??

I would have no idea this machine was any form of refurbished or preowned. It is flawless! I bought this as my first new machine. Prior to this i was using a 20+ year old machine that was a hand-me-down and I just wanted a good basic and reliable machine that was reasonably priced. And this fits the bill! I’ve had it for a few months and have done a few different projects and its worked wonderfully.

No fuss, no muss machine

I have really used this machine a lot, and that was not my intent for buying it (I was going to keep it in the camper for small projects). But, it is just such a simple, no fuss, no muss machine, it tends to be my go-to these days. It is not fussy about fabric types, in fact I’ve used it for lingerie construction and repair. It just works. I like that it is uncomplicated. Very nice machine, well beyond its price.

Sometimes, simple is best. So far, I’ve tried various fabrics and stitches, and it just works. I got this machine for sewing in the camper, but in the meantime I have started using it for most sewing and mending I’ve done recently. It would be a very fine machine for a beginner: it’s uncomplaining and flexible. This is not a fussy machine.

Pretty easy to use

Easy to use. Cheap, affordable and does the job, what more can you ask for? This machine can handle pretty simple hemming or sewing projects. Four star only because the bobbin is plastic, I can see this getting broken down the road, and my thread sometimes come undone (even though I'm careful) and I have to thread it again through the machine, a little annoying if you're in the middle of sewing.

I don't know how to sow clothes but I've been practicing on how to cut clothes and I've been watching videos on YouTube for sowing and almost all of them are using Brother. it's like growing up with something. when my friend asked me to recommend best sowing machine, I was like the only sowing machine I've ever heard about is only brother machines so I'm going to start my future career with you 'brother". wish me luck everybody.

Good first machine!

This would be a great first machine for a single child or siblings. It is quiet and runs smoothly with nice basic stitches.
Unfortunately, I'm co-director of a summer sewing camp for 9-15 year olds. The plastic case and lighter weight won't work for multiple children's use. For a younger child a speed control is also a good idea.
I have a young friend who will be delighted to get this.
