Good first machine!

This would be a great first machine for a single child or siblings. It is quiet and runs smoothly with nice basic stitches.
Unfortunately, I'm co-director of a summer sewing camp for 9-15 year olds. The plastic case and lighter weight won't work for multiple children's use. For a younger child a speed control is also a good idea.
I have a young friend who will be delighted to get this.

I love it. But I broke the tensor on top. And Im looking for the part to keep creating stuff. I don't have any bad reviews. Just need that part.

Great beginner-friendly machine

This machine is reliable and surprisingly punchy when it comes to getting through thick layers of fabric. Great stitch selection and easy to use, love the drop-in bobbin. My only critique is that the needle easily becomes unthreaded if you forget to hold the tail when you begin sewing.

Issues with piecing foot

Simple for beginners

My daughter has been watching videos about buying thrift store clothes and turning them into something different. My machine has too many options so I thought this would be perfect for her. It was simple to set up and there were multiple YT videos for her to watch on how to set up and use. It's perfect for a beginner especially with the helpful YT videos. My daughter is already working on a dress from a sweater she bought at the thrift store and fabric we purchased. I think all kids should learn to sew!!

I don't know how to sow clothes but I've been practicing on how to cut clothes and I've been watching videos on YouTube for sowing and almost all of them are using Brother. it's like growing up with something. when my friend asked me to recommend best sowing machine, I was like the only sowing machine I've ever heard about is only brother machines so I'm going to start my future career with you 'brother". wish me luck everybody.

Great sewing machine

I received the Brother RLX3817A sewing machine today. It is a very nice sewing machine. I have been sewing for many years and wanted a lightweight machine. This is just what I needed. It was very easy to thread and I would recommend this model for beginners and even for children to learn to sew.
