Lost all of my footage twice

I am honestly just very sad. I spent two hours in the water with my GoPro this morning filming surfing footage as well as interview footage with surfers in the water. This was for work. After two hours, I got a notification on GoPro that said "SD Card Error. Formatting your card is the only way to fix it, but it will delete your media." I'm HEARTBROKEN. The interview footage I filmed was powerful and now it is lost! This is the second time that this has happened with my GoPro Hero 9 and this SD card. The first time, was with all of my boyfriend and my vacation footage in Hawaii. We were also heartbroken at that time. Today made me seriously consider ever using a GoPro again because I don't want to risk losing all of my memories for the third time.
