I am giving the SmartPro 120V 500VA 300W UPS 4 stars out of 5 instead of 5 because of the DB9 interface. The network card option would be a good idea only if it were more cost effective. Other than the user interface the UPS is quite and an awesome buy for home or small business.
We run about 50 of these in remote locations to keep the network gear up over short power drops. The price point is good for a UPS and network card. The SNMPWEBcard is ok, better than some, worse than others. The big issue we have is about 50% of the time when the battery goes bad it brings down the UPS. They seem incapable of going into a bypass mode so half the time when the battery dies the location goes down.
I purchased this product to replace a normal consumer grade UPS I was using as a battery backup for my home server. I'm in the process of moving everything to a rack, so I figured I'd replace my UPS with a rack mount alternative in the process. The unit itself works great and I'm very happy with in. The only drawback (which I didn't find out until after my purchase) was that the SNMPWEBCARD accessory is poorly reviewed. I was drawn to this unit based on the idea that I would later add the SNMPWEBCARD, but now I'm having second thoughts. Nonetheless, I'm happy with my purchase.
Really like being able to get information from the unit, as far as load, battery life, run time, etc. Sure is better than having to measure these things yourself, or guessing at it. Have several other SmartPro UPSs and haven't had a problem with any of them.
I bought mine a year ago due to constant power brownouts and outages. We do not need a storm to have power problems. this unit is used for a system that hashad many service calls because for this reason. I have not had one single problems or lost any files sicne purchasing this unit
Bought 4 of these to protect switches and PC's. Worked great for both personal use and customer installs. They have already protected me numerous times during brown outs and electric meter exchanges performed by electric company.
