Not for beginners: Entry level professional/ "Prosumer" Printer
on December 29, 2025

As the title says this printer is not for beginners, I got this product back in March 2025 and began trying to use it, I was getting some prints to come out well, but often the colors wouldn't be correct, due to my lack of skill using pro level inkjet printers.
What do I mean by this is a Professional level printer/ "prosumer" , If you are looking for something to print your family photos, DO NOT BUY this. this is not for you. This is for someone who is looking to elevate their budding professional photography sphere.
The set up for the product was easy and straight forward, so 5/5 stars there. The basics of the printer are easy to follow, and the applicable/ secondary software is easy to find so 5/5 stars there.
The colors are phenomenal, when you know what you are doing so 5/5 there The printer's price is fine for what you are getting, my major gripe is not being able to buy a 12 pack of ink? having to add each induvial one to the cart is annoying, but the pro-1000 has 12 packs of ink for sale.
Ok on to the things I do not like. I have some 4x6" Hahnemule fine art papers, that, due to being baryta coated papers need to be put in the manual feed tray. this makes a boarded print very very difficult to produce. not impossible, but a significant amount of work. printing 4x6 on other photo papers is extremely easy because it defaults to the top feed, I may need to change paper driver settings when printing to do this, but I fear the prints won't look as good
I also do not like how the settings for the paper are simply generic names like heavy weight or luster. I think they need to put the paperweights/ density with the names. I have also looked into the paper manufactures too and some provide decent guidelines for their paper on specific printers, its just very tedious when you are trying 3-4 different paper-types for a specific image.
The final thing is making sure you do a manual nozzle check out of the box, and do ir periodically as you will get some banding when you print things with solid blocks of color such as a clear blue skies. this issue does seem to be fixed when you intentional select "unidirectional" printing too.
If I can, I will add color calibrated images of prints on different mediums with a not as to what I printed the image on.
overall I am very satisfied with this printer, it's my first prog-rade printer. As I sell more prints I will look to move up tot he 4100 or something eventually, when I am ready to print and sell larger images. I will keep this one until it no longer functions.

Pro-1100 purchased as a replacement for my previous Canon printer (i9900) that had given me years of good service but eventually died. Pro-1100 is a definite improvement in image quality and has the versatility to use sizes and types of papers that were beyond what I could reasonably do with my previous printer. Best of all, my wife is exceptionally pleased with the images I am able to print.

Been putting this baby through its paces and I’ve been thoroughly impressed. I just printed a 17”x 6’ wide print and it looks amazing. I have tried about seven paper finishes and they all look gorgeous. Love it!!

I'm delighted with my Prograf Pro 1100. I had used a Pro 1000 for years and was very pleased with it. I expected the Pro 1100 to be similar, but it's significantly better. In particular, the blacks and shadows are noticeably deeper and richer. And, of course, the inks are far more durable, which matters to me because I list my prints as archival.

Dead and no service

The printer is great but Canon's service sucks. 16 months old, so out of warranty. It's completely dead and won't power on. Tech support was worthless and said that Canon doesn't repair this model. All they can do is sell me a new one for a 25% discount. I'm so glad I am a Nikon photographer and don't shoot Canon's crappy products.

The ink cartridges are different than the 1000. Connected and set up with the iPhone app fairly quickly. Then tried the same with the PC. Struggled for hours. Eventually gave up trying to do it wirelessly. Came back a few days later and it just worked. Weird but good.

good but ink expensive the touch screen seems a bit behind great prints, heavy so don't slide or plan moving by your self.

imagePROGRAPH PRO-1100 is a winner

imagePROGRAF Pro-1100 was purchased to replace the Pro-1000 since the printhead 'shuttle' seized. The Pro-1100 gives better colors and monochromes than the Pro-1000. It is quiet, easy to operate, and can handle more paper types via the top feed than the Pro-1000. The Pro-1100 images are an improvement over the Pro-1000. So far-so good. If possible, I keep the Pro-1100 powered on as too many 'power on/power' off cycles decreases the life of most inkjet printers.
