I love the large cartridge of black ink. the color is great for type, but for photos there seems to be a problem. the colors are a gloss, but the black comes out matte. it looks very strange.

I am glad you are liking the large cartridge. I don't know why you're seeing the matte finish but it might be due to the type of paper you are using. Sometimes environmental conditions will also affect print quality.
Laser printers with only 4 colors are designed more for productivity and we don't often deal with photo quality, so I'm sorry that I don't have more answers for you.
