Great Lens! I have used the lens for taking many photos of eagles and osprey at a lake near my home.

Quality build, weight is manageable. I shoot handheld it is a little but heavier then a 150-600 but not a huge difference. Lens is extremly sharp and focus is fast. I use for birds in flight and have noticed my pictures in focus has more than doubled from my last telephoto lens. Happy with the reach as well. The F.9 just means i shot early in the morning now and in the evening it comes down to having 10 minutes less than a F.5 lens. The boca background is not an issue at F.9 most of the time it's completely blowned out.

Same IS issue as all other RF lenses

Bought this lens as the 100-500 was a hassle to use with and extender and the IS was unusable for video. The 200-800 for photo is amazing! But the image stabilization is even worse than the 70-200L and 100-500L series lenses in video and the image can come out quite soft. The image with IS on doesn’t follow your pan and will randomly shift left or right. The potential

I'm a very novice camera person. I don't know much about the technical workings of cameras. I have a Canon EOS 6D Mark II and I was very excited to add the 200-800 lens to my collection. Turns out my camera is a mirrored camera and the lens is designed to work with a mirrorless system. I had to return it. Fortunately, I already have a 100-400 that works great and a doubler. Never thought to put those together, but now can't wait to try it out. So, I guess the 1-star rating is really for me rather than the lens. It pays to know your equipment.
