After paying way too much for a new refrigerator with a digital control processor, I "splurged" for the few extra $$ to add one of these little guys. A year later, my house lost it's power ground reference. Not good. Without the ground, everything in the house was getting various, corrupt versions of 240VAC. Lots of things got toasted but not the new refrigerator! The little Isobar unit sacrificed its self to save the big refrigerator. I wish I'd had six more in place.

This is the second one of these I've purchased. The first was to protect our washing machine. The main logic board went into a failure mode due to a power surge. Because of the high current draw of the motor a UPS wasn't practical. This surge protector turned out to be the perfect solution. The second one was purchased after another power surge caused our sprinkler system to fail with all the valves turned on. Since installing the protectors neither problem has reoccured.

New appliances are chock full of electronics that are affected by power surges. At 13 months, our new washer's motherboard was clobbered. We replaced the board, on our nickel, since the warrantee was only 12 months. That was over $300. A month later the new refrigerator was hit with a surge after 15 months of service. Another $400 plus. I searched online and found the Isobar Surge Protector. After reading the specs and warrantee, I bought four and attached them to all the appliances. That was almost a year ago. So far, everything is working as it should. Unfortunately, there is no way of accurately noting how well these surge protectors work since they do not produce logs. Anecdotally I assume the Isobars are doing what they are supposed to do since I have not received a note from the power company telling me that they have "fixed" their surge problems and yet everything is working. I guess the Isobars are like bullet-proof glass - until you are shot at, you really don't know you are safe.

I have not had any surges to need protection from yet that I am aware of, but this product appears to be very well made and I have two protecting our microwave and refrigerator. Only complaint I would have is the bracket it can hang from only works with standard outlets with the screw hole in the center and not with the Decora style square outlets. I like the large protection and warranty with it too.

Bought this surge suppressor to protect the expensive digital controls on my new washing machine. Very impressed with the industrial grade metal housing. Installation was a snap - just plug it in. Have not had any electrical surges or lightning strikes to test it but the $10K insurance provides peace of mind.

I am using this to protect my sensitive electronics, including all of my power tools in my polebarn. I like the compactness of it. I trust in its ability to stop surges and spikes in their tracks, particularly in our security system with 19 cameras.
