Blink Solar Setup In Florida

Purchased a total of 6 of these for my cams all together
At first the box arrives - and you think what the ?
But after reading the directions - it pretty simple to put together

The mounts are strong and the connections are secure
There are 2 screws that you have to install from the back side of the mount - Make sure they reach through the hole and screw into the hole on the other side of the plate - this pulls the 2 pieces of meatal together and makes the stable- If not done correctly the extension pole will move - pretty common since but I made this mistake -No harm done
Eventually I decided to not use them to mount the cameras on them just the solar panels, because with wind it still causes the camera to move. which can set them off. Its frequently windy here - 20mph winds are common

For Mounting the Solar Panels - They are the best. We just had winds of 40 - 50 mph and everyone held without any issues. - If we have a hurricane - I will probably be taking them all down - But that is a simple process

What I finally did was use the mounting brackets that came with the solar panels - and placed the OEM Blink mounts onto the flat plate of the solar panel mounting brackets
I drilled 2 small holes - that lined up with the OEM Mount - and attached it with a small piece of 3m tape and 2 small screws - Works Great - better ability to move the cams up and down and side to side -
I used my custom mounts and screwed them into the soffits. Very Stable
The plastic that the mounts are made of is high quality. So drilling the 2 holes was no problem. -

There is more than enough attached wire from the panels - so placement was easy
One other concern - there are 2 cushion end caps for the 2 adjustable screws - If you have to move the brackets - make sure you have a way to catch them when they come off, because they will. The screw on as well - so this is expected

Looking back I see I could have purchased just a gutter mount for the solar panels alone
But I like that they are raised above the roof, and it provides a better range to move the panels to face the sun
