I just got back into building PCs, and the last time I built a PC the Ryzen 5000 series was just announced, so when I heard about the 7000 series, 3D V-Cache technology, and most importantly the AM5 socket, I just had to build a AM5 system. At first, the prices of the AM5 motherboards frightened me and almost made me stick to a AM4 platform, but this motherboard showed up for close to the same price as a AM4 motherboard.. may as well give it a try!
This motherboard has mire features than I ever expected, including 2.5GB Lan, WiFi 6e wireless receivers, and even an auxiliary power for the CPU incase I wanted to overclock. The 16x Gen 4 PCIe slot keeps me at ease knowing I'm getting full potential from my 3080, and the two M.2 slots are more than enough for me to have enough expansion for all my games, and the heatsink makes sure that my SSD isn't overheating.
Enough praise, what are the issues? Well, the first problem I had are the aGRB are in 3 completely different spots of the motherboard, making wire management for my fans a little harder, but that doesn't effect performance in any way and just makes people mad at me on Reddit. Another downside is that this is a micro-ATX case, which means it may not take up all the space in some peoples (including mine) PC case. I got around this by putting little figures in my case to decorate it. I also found it strange that the M.2 slots don't have spring clips to keep SSDs in place and instead opted for the traditional little M.2 screw. The only "issues" I've had with this board are QOL issues, and not actually anything that effects performance or standard use.
The MSI MAG B650M-A WiFi is an amazing motherboard for someone looking to upgrade to the AM5 platform and DDR5 ram without the AM5 and DDR5 price tag. It has everything a motherboard needs and then some, whether you're looking to use a Ryzen 5 7600x and 3070 or a Ryzen 9 7950x3d and 4090, this motherboard will have all the features and support you need to make sure you're up and running in no time!
Notes: 1. The build I used for this motherboard is the Corsair 5000x Mid-Tower Case, MSI MAG B650M-A WiFi Motherboard, EVGA 3080 XC3 Ultra, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB (2 x 16GB) Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-6000mhz Ram, WD Black SN770 1TB SSD, MSI MAG Coreliquid C240 AIO CPU Cooler, Corsair RM850 Modular PSU, and Corsair's XTM70 Thermal Paste. 2.
