[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] TCL S-Series 2.1 Surround Sound System is a great investment. My tv was hard hearing until we got the TCL surround system, it makes the tv sound like a movie theater. Very easy to install, it will automatically be connected to tv after pairing both the bar and surround together. When you turn off the tv it goes off by itself, definitely worth having!!

Great sound bar with a few quirks

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For the past couple years I've been passively considering buying a new sound bar, since I purchased my previous one back in 2015 or so and it was a budget model that I liked but had some issues with. So I was extremely grateful to get the opportunity to try this thing. And now after using it for the past couple of weeks I can safely say that this is a quality sound bar and a great upgrade from what I've been familiar with, but it does have some minor issues that diminish it for me.
Right out of the box I was surprised - this is a small, thin bar, about half as thin as my previous one. At the same time, the wireless subwoofer is about a foot tall and very heavy, it feels solidly built. I was happy to see that despite the smaller size of the bar, this thing is capable of producing some great sound quality. With the subwoofer connected, I feel that audio sounds rich coming out of this thing - not on the level of an actual home theater system, obviously, but I did notice some depth of sound, with dramatic songs sounding stronger and more boosted than I'm used to. Comparing the sound quality of this thing and my big expensive OLED TV is nuts too, the TV audio was never remarkable or anything but it sounded fine enough compared to my old sound bar. But it sounds completely tinny and cheap compared to this one. I haven't really toyed with any of the base boosting settings or anything, because I'm more than happy with the default audio quality, but I appreciate having those options. The subwoofer works well (I tried the soundbar with the subwoofer connected and disconnected and I did notice the reduction in bass when it was disconnected). The remote control works well and has a clean design. I like the fact that this sound bar has several different connection options - HDMI-ARC, Bluetooth, optical-out, etc. And I really like the fact that the box includes a little IR sensor, so I can still use my TV remote even though the sound bar blocks the sensor.
So this is a strong package, and I'm extremely happy with it. But I do have a few issues. They're small, but they add up and do unfortunately diminish the overall quality of this thing. First of all, this might be more specific to me but it's worth mentioning - I have the sound bar connected via HDMI-ARC. Lately I've been connecting my laptop to my TV using a different HDMI port, to watch a TV show I have downloaded. I used to use an old adaptor that was a bit finicky but still worked - occasionally it would jostle for like a quarter of a second, which didn't cause any issues with my old sound bar. It would jostle, I would pause and make sure it was connected firmly, and that was that. But frustratingly, every time that adaptor would jostle while using this new sound bar, the bar automatically disconnected from HDMI-ARC. Meaning I have to flip through all the connection options until I get back to it. Again, a very specific grievance, and I ended up buying a new HDMI adaptor which solved the problem, but I did think it was worth mentioning. Basically if you have any old HDMI cables or adaptors, and have this thing set to HDMI-ARC, it's very sensitive and might interrupt your audio.
But here are two issues that I actually have with the sound bar itself - first of all, when I turn on my TV, the sound bar turns on with it, which I like. But for whatever reason, the sound bar feels the need to announce itself, every time it turns on. Like a Bluetooth speaker, every time it boots up it yells the current input method, very loudly, in a male robotic voice - "HDMI-ARC". It doesn't announce itself when I turn it off, only when I turn it on. I think this is nuts, I cannot figure out how to disable it and it's very annoying to turn my TV on early in the morning and hear the robot man yell at me. Just a totally unnecessary feature.
But more annoyingly, the volume controls for this thing are bizarre. Unlike my previous sound bar - which would display the current volume on a 1-40 numerical scale using LED's - this bar instead uses a weird bar system to gauge volume. It starts with one line, then once you get the bar loud enough it morphs into three lines, then it morphs into five. But you have to put the volume up/down for quite a few clicks before switching between the different phases of the bars. It makes it difficult to really gauge what the current volume is, since it goes: I (click-click-click-click-click) III (click-click-click-click-click) IIIII. And then it can go even louder from there, but the lines don't get any larger after that point. Why couldn't they just have the volume displayed in numbers? It's such a big annoyance that even without the robot voice issue, it would be enough for me to lower my rating by a full star. It is needlessly complicating such an otherwise simple feature.
But those are my main grievances with this bar - thankfully it's still good enough that I can easily recommend it. Just be ready for a few unusual quirks, that could have easily been ironed out. It's unfortunate how some seemingly minor nitpicks can downgrade what is an otherwise solid product. But again, great sound bar, I highly recommend it nonetheless, because the form factor and sound quality are fantastic.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This sound bar is amazing! Not the highest of quality, but with the tv we have and this, our little home theater is pretty awesome. The Sound bar is easy to install and comes with everything you need, including a tool to measure, and you also have the option of just laying it on the tv stand. It works great and is easy to manage. Love it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so happy I upgraded my TV sound system with sound bar. The clarity of voices and music are incredible. Because I am getting a little hard of hearing I didn't know if this would make mush difference. I found the bass from the subwoofer is rich and full. I love being able to play music from my phone's Playlist.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The TCL - TCL S-Series 2.1 Channel Home Theater Sound Bar has great sound quality and easy set up! Subwoofer is the perfect touch for any sound system, and the Bluetooth capability is great, too. It's perfect for Smart TV's, as well. Instructions are clear and concise and setup was a breeze.
