Sturdy, stackable, and survived a hurricane.

In 2016, I got my black bins with Halloween decorations out of the shed and put them on the screened-in porch in anticipation of decorating. And here comes Hurricane Matthew! For 3 rainy, stormy, electricity-killing days, the bins sat on the screened in porch getting drenched.
When Matthew moved on, I was thrilled to discover not a single bin had leaked, thus saving my spooky decor!

I decided to use totes during my move. I love how uniform they stack. the only negative in my opinion is the indentation takes up space inside the tote, and my labels don't look as nice BUT that is minor compared to the job they do.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My wife used product #1838 18 gal to store Christmas ornaments outside. After a couple of years, the totes are breaking apart into small pieces.This should be thought of, as being a super feature for plastic.
Plastic should not last forever and that is a problem that this world is facing everyday.

I've been using this size for years to store Christmas decorations. We moved a few years back and bought more to help us pack for our move. They were perfect for packing and loading into the moving pod. They stacked great and held a lot

Used to be great, now very poor

I have over 100 of the old style gray 18 gallon totes, and have some going back close to 20 years. The new ones are terrible. Very weak, crack easily, lids don't stay on. I do not understand how this new version could get through product testing and out to market. You always had the old style to keep producing when the new ones totally failed their testing. Now I see they have discontinued the 10 gallon totes. Why Sterilite????? Tell your decision makers to exercise some common sense.

What happened to the quality?

I have been a long time purchaser of these 18 gallon totes. I'd say I own about 200 plus. I decided to purchase them and use them when I moved instead of using cardboard boxes. I figured they would always come in handy for whatever reason. I was a good investment. The prices were decent and the quality...oh man the quality USED to be AWESOME. I mean I still have the older style bins that I purchased back in 1995. They've been through storms.. snow.. outdoor sun and exposure... cross country moves and storage ins and out and about 5 other moves that I can think of now... and STILL are going very strong... BUT these newer version of 18 gal totes are flimsy... weak... break easily and have yet to prove your business worthy any more. Extremely disappointed in who ever decided that making more money meant lowering your quality.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Terrible design and qulity

This tote has too wide of a top - it cannot hold up to any weight at all and the lid does not fit once it gets benteven a little bit. We have had totes made by sterlite for 15 years that are still in better condition than the ones i bought last month. Best Sterlite Tote ever made was Tote #1830. PLEASE make these again. Palstic is more durable and the design is the best.

Everything is great, but maybe one future change?

I absolutely love sterilite's products, especially the plastic storage bin totes, because not only is the quality great, but the sizes they come in and all the wonderful room you have to store your things in there is amazing! The only small thing I wish that could change about these products is the variety of colors they come in. Now I don't know how many people, besides me ha, care much about what the bins look like, especially color, just that they do what they were designed to do and are made with quality, but I'm sure there's got to be some. I mean I really loved the Halloween and Christmas themed ones, as I know many others did too, so I think maybe, if you introduced some new colors or themes, maybe say some pastel easter/spring themed ones, they, and possibly many others, would love the new colors just as much! The colors of these children's shelf storage bins found here https://goo.gl/images/3LvWW3 I think would be a great look. But the sizing of course would be the plastic 18 gallon storage tote bins with lids as well as the other sizes too if you wanted. It's just a suggestion, I don't know if anyone will read this, but if you do, it'd be great if you took it into consideration, thanks! :)
