It changed everything

I bought a Garmin because the next generation in my family all had them. Yes Consumer Reports said the instructions on use were difficult but it turned out to be a great purchase. My exercising approach has changed. Now, because of Garmin, I pay attention to my heart rate. Watching my HR has slowed me down for sure. To stay within my training rate for my age has forced me to pace myself in a way I hadn't before. We will see if this new discipline turns out to be a positive in the long run. I'm hopeful that my fitness will improve

I wasn't sure how going from a Venue 2S to an Instinct 2X Solar would feel, considering the much bigger form factor and higher weight. However, it felt like a perfect fit right away and I hardly notice the watch. Coming from a color screen and touch screen takes a little getting used to, but I love that the watch is always one and I can just glance at it. The display is very readable. Navigating the watch feature with buttons is intutive. The feature set mostly overlaps, except that the Instinct can't play music by itsef and requires a phone to do so. GPS accuracy is good and I love the battery life. I can go between two and three weeks depending on the number of workouts I do.

Great Battery Life , Very good Features ...

The 4 main activities I use my Gamin for are : Steps, Elliptical , MTB, and EMTB. I also have focus on my Sleep Patterns as this has been a issue for me personally. Also I would say I use it for seeing my overall health via the Training readiness. Note my EMTB is in the shop right now, cracked frame... thank goodness , covered under Warrenty , so I can not speak to it much will add comments at a later date for it. Will start with something I think the Instinct 2X should have at this price range as my Fitbit has it , at a 1/3 of the price and that is , it should automatically pickup on what type of activity I am doing, just like the fitbit does , and it super accurate regarding it... now I have to remember to apply the activity before doing it, and I have missed a few because i was use to the fitbit.... Overall I would rate it this way. Battery life 5.0 Two plus weeks without being in the sun much per day to get the benefit of the solar power. Tracking Sleep 4.5 very good at it , feel it is pretty accurate. MTB 4.9 I like this a lot as it will show me the route I took as well , a lot of good features on this one , Steps 4.7, Pretty accurate slight differences between it and the fitbit . I would say the Heart Rate is very good too.... Overall I think it is a very good watch , if they had a Auto Activity Mode , I would give it a 5, without it I am giving it a 4.

Loud vibration

Overall the watch is exactly what I expected. The only thing that has surprised me is how loud the vibrating alerts are. It sounds like the watch is rattling and is very buzzy. At times I hear my alerts more than I feel them which is totally not the point for silent, vibrating alerts. It was replaced by Garmin once already but the new one sounds the same. If they come up with a fix I really hope they contact owners with these earlier models. I also have an Instinct Tactical and it does not sound like this at all. It generally seems and feels rock solid.

Just what I was looking for

I've owned this watch for a few weeks now and it is exactly what I wanted. It's great for all around outdoor use whether hiking, walking, or just being outside. It's basically bulletproof and with the solar there is less time charging it like other watches. Plus with notifications on I can stay in the know if something happens. I use it for work and pleasure. I'm not easy on things and this watch is holding it's own.

Best watch I've ever owned. It's too bad this is my 2nd Instict 2x solar, as I forgot to take my 1st one off of my truck hood while it was charging. I drove away then realized what I did, became sick to my stomach. But had to get another one.

Great watch

I was looking for a great tough smart watch that wasn't afraid to take a beating. I found it. This thing is tough as nails with a great battery life and all the smart features I wanted in a watch. The buttons was little different getting used to but after I did I wouldn't go back. Don't have to accidentally worry about the screen getting turned on and stuff getting messed up.
