Easy Readability, and it works!

I previously had a Garmin D2 Air watch, but was not happy with it at all, so much so that when looking for another smart watch, I was steering away from another Garmin. But when I looked at the reviews for this watch, coupled with it being able to solar charge (allowing it to keep a charge the entire day, unlike my previous watch), I decided to give it a try. Pleasantly surprised.

This watch it what smart watches should be, I don’t need a watch that imitates a phone. This watch delivers all relevant data quick and easy to read

I was hesitant because of the gps navigation being only a follow the line route but after using it for a couple of backpacking trips and every day use all the features that this watch has surely make it worth it. I was also worried that the lack of touch screen would be annoying but after just a few uses I'm glad I went with the button press. The solar charging is really nice especially for Backcountry navigation it makes it so I almost never worry about running out of battery and on multiple occasions I've gotten back to my truck after a trip and noticed that the watch was more charged than I had started. Overall I love this watch and would recommend.

Great Watch!

First of all, let me say that I am usually an Apple Watch person. However, a few years ago I received the Instinct as a gift and I liked the watch a lot and would switch it up with my Apple watch. Recently, knowing that I would be going on a cruise I purchased the Instinct 2X Solar, mainly for the battery life and for the upgraded health features that the original Instinct did not have. I absolutely love this watch! I love the color (moss) and the rugged design. I have a smaller wrist and was a little worried about the 51mm size, but it does not look too big. In addition, the larger face makes it easier to read. I really enjoy the morning report; the training readiness and the HRV/VO2 max readouts. My only complaint with this watch (as with the Instinct) is the heart rate monitor is not as accurate as the Apple Watch, at least when heart rate begins to accelerate. It seems that as you train, the Instinct's heart rate monitor takes some time to catch up to the body. Lastly, the flashlight feature is super-cool, especially, when you need to find your way around at night and don't want to wake up your sleeping partner. High marks for this watch!

The watch is what I expected

I bought this watch to expand my line of Garmin watches and to replace a Casio Rangeman. The Instinct 2X has exceeded my expectations both in function and fit. Well worth the purchase. I did replace the band with a standard Fenix band, just didnt like the taper on the Instinct band.

Not sure what it's capable of

On the advice of a good friend I purchased an Instinct® 2X Solar device for long hiking. Frankly, I'm overwhelmed with the interface of the four buttons. I clearly need to learn how to navigate to and through the various screens. This is not a negative review at all, but perhaps a warning that there is a fairly steep learning curve involved (and perhaps few resources to help one select and tailor apps to ones individual needs/wants). As a hiker I was hoping for a device that would help me figure out where I am (GPS) and even inform others where I am (I haven't figured out the apps I need or how to do it yet). Additionally, I was hoping to record hikes (times, elevations, heart rates, map paths, etc.) which I was able to do pretty quickly. But with regards to heart rates, I would like the device to inform me to speed up/down to stay within a specific aerobic zone (no idea how to make this happen). I wish the screen was a little easier to view at a slow walk, but with the small print (and my arms getting shorter) I must come to a full stop to comprehend most of the info available. I paired the device with my phone to see the user's manual, but found the 126 pages difficult to navigate on my screen, so I downloaded and printed the manual (I recommend this to novices so you can make notes as you go through it). Is there a site that that lists all compatible apps (free or not) that can help one maximize the device for their personal needs? ...More to come.

Love the battery life

Big difference in battery life. Was a pain always charging my old instinct. Otherwise functions as I’d expect it to.
