We purchased 20 of these for our staff. 1 was buzzing from a malfunctioning transformer. Tripplite replaced it free of charge after a short troubleshooting session with their Tech support(American Tech). We have had one outage and they all performed flawlessly. Looking to purchase more in the future.

Everything seems to go on batteries these days. I purchased this unit about two years ago after a different battery-backup UPS system (different brand) proved inadequate. I run a Windows 7 Pro system with 2 1-TB harddrives, four 23-inch LCD monitors, two laser printers and a 15-inch MacBook Pro (with a 24-inch external monitor). All this is my workstation, my home office system, and I need it to run 24/7. I probably spent $80-$100 on this baby when I purchased it, and every time there was a thunderstorm or some summer-induced brownout, I didn't need to rush and save files and close applications because the UPS would keep my system running for 15-20 minutes. Since these were brownouts, not lasting more than 1-2 minutes, the only thing flickering were some of the monitors powering down and coming back to life. This UPS worked so well that I forgot to replace the depleted batteries a couple months ago and my Windows machine would shut down after a brownout. Buying a set of batteries is a good investment (the batteries last for 2-3 years anyway). No rocket science degree needed to install these batteries. This week, a brownout happened and the UPS just beeped to alert me of that, and I had nothing to fear.
