Great size, portable, and easy to clean

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This griddle is perfect for bringing to a friends or cooking (inside or outside). My number one is how easy they made it to clean as the cooktop comes right off without any laches, and is REVERSABLE!!! I am really impressed and will use this all the time! The feet are grippy, so it’s not going to slide around on you either. The box has a built in handle so you can tote wherever you need.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Starfrit The Rock Reversible Grill and Griddle is an excellent choice for beginners or college students venturing into indoor grilling. Remarkably lightweight, this grill heats up rapidly and delivers efficient cooking results. With a minimalistic design comprising only four components—the variable temperature control plug-in knob, the reversible plate, and the grill—it offers simplicity in use.
To get started, plug in the temperature knob, set your desired temperature, place the chosen side of the reversible plate facing up, wait for it to heat up, and begin cooking. The quick heating process impressed me, allowing immediate use after plugging in and setting the temperature. Notably, it provides a satisfying sear without smoking or burning, and I experienced no issues with burgers sticking, even without the use of oil.
While not a heavy-duty grill, it stands out with a detachable, reversible plate. The convenience of lifting the entire plate for easy rinsing in the sink or dishwasher cleaning is a notable advantage, a feature I wish my pricier grill had. The expansive surface area on each side is commendable, especially compared to more expensive models with smaller surface areas for each side due to different textures.
The versatility of the plate extends to its usability on other stovetop grills or in the oven, making it a handy tool for various cooking needs, such as baking pizzas. However, a drawback arises when desiring to use both sides simultaneously, requiring either a waiting period for the plate to cool or the use of mittens or utensils to handle the hot plate for cleaning and switching sides.
The grill boasts cool-touch handles, but the absence of cool-touch handles on the plate itself is a missed opportunity for enhanced safety. Additionally, while the grill features vents for smoke release, the lack of an LED display for precise temperature control is a notable downside.
Regrettably, the grill does not come with a tempered glass lid, which could be beneficial for outdoor use to protect food from insects. Though lacking in features for advanced users, this grill is perfect for beginners and can be supervised by kids aged 5 and up. The inclusion of a plastic spatula is a thoughtful touch.
Overall, the Starfrit The Rock Reversible Grill and Griddle offers a basic yet effective grilling experience. While lacking some advanced features, it serves as an ideal starting point for those new to grilling, making it a suitable choice for college students or anyone seeking simplicity in indoor cooking.
