Simple Cleaning Mechanism, Elegant Design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This brush is very easy to use and has an elegant design. It is a pretty beige color with shiny golden trim. The technology utilizes a feature called "Sense IQ". This allows for the brush to determine the setting needed to best brush your teeth. I have mixed feelings about this, as I do like the ability to be able to decide the setting myself, but maybe the brush is smarter than I am. It only has one Cycle choice- 6 sections for about 2 minutes' worth of brushing time. It also ends its cycle very gently- it almost made me think it needed to be charged. Aside from that, the battery lasts a very long time. All things considered, it's a solid product that I enjoy using. I have received compensation for taking part in this product test.

Sleek and effective

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the Philips Sonicare Prestige 9900 for two weeks and have learned a lot about it. The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box is its sleek appearance and the number of accessories.
I was particularly impressed with the attractive travel case that can also charge the handle. It took me a few minutes to figure out that you have you have to snap the head piece into it cradle in the case in order to get it to close. Once I figured that out, I was able to use that for a weekend away as both a carry case and charger.
Another feature I like is the automatic buzz that occurs every 20 seconds and the chart in the instructions that suggests the order to brush each section of your teeth. At each buzz, you know you did 20 seconds and move to the next section. The handle automatically powers off after 2 minutes, so you know you're done.
One of the features I don't love is the smooth power buttons and control for pressure placement. It took me a while to figure out that I need to hold my hand at the end of the handle to avoid accidentally turning it off.
The button that changes between the three pressure settings was also a learning curve. I found you can change the pressure by pressing hard on that area, or by pressing the area and shaking the handle at the same time. I must have done that accidentally when I was rinsing the handle on time, as I had a couple days when the pressure was intense and I wasn't sure why. Reading the directions more carefully, I was able to figure it out...the information is there, but it's not intuitive.
I appreciate the instruction on cleaning the handle. I never knew I could rinse the handle (without the head on) of an electric toothbrush and it has kept it much cleaner than I expected. I do wish there was a drying stand for the head attached to the stand up charger. I currently store the handle in it's stand up charger between uses, but the head (which they suggest you dry separately) sits on the bathroom counter.
All in all, I think the Philips Sonicare Prestige 9900 is a very attractive and effective electric toothbrush with solid battery life, some nice features and cool carry case/charger. I would say this tooth brush has a learning curve if you want to fully enjoy its features and find and keep the settings you prefer.

Compact, stylish, sleek design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Prestige 9900 is noticeably smaller and lighter than my old Sonicare Diamondclean toothbrush, but feels just as powerful. I like how the two buttons are integrated into the shell of the handle rather being separate pieces, which ensures a watertight enclosure that's easy to clean and won't build up residue around the buttons. The toothbrush charges wirelessly on its stand, which now has a USB connector instead of a standard plug. Since I already have USB outlets, I didn't need to use the included USB power adapter. The travel case is very stylish, with stitched 'leather' and gold accents, it looks like a fashion accessory. It's barely large enough to hold the toothbrush handle and brush head and has a built-in USB-C charging port, though not enough room for the charging cable. I'm a little but disappointed that the brush head doesn't fit in the case with the clear plastic "hygienic travel cap" which defeats the purpose of having a travel cap. Brushing with the Prestige 9900 feels similar to my previous toothbrush, it runs for 2 minutes and breaks the time into 6x 20-second segments for each section of your mouth, and there are 3 selectable intensity modes. The base of the handle turns purple if you apply too much pressure and orange of you are scrubbing too much. I was not able to test any of the app connectivity features, and there doesn't appear to be any way to change the brushing modes on the toothbrush handle (clean, white+, gum health, deepclean, tongue care). Note that I have received compensation as part of the product test.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige as part of the product test and my compensation is that I am able to keep the product.
I absolutely love this toothbrush, the design is sleek and I love the light pink color, it comes with a cute travel case that's durable, a charger, usb, handle, and brush head. Set up is extremely easy, I downloaded the app and immediately started using. This toothbrush is extremely powerful and you can set the pressure to your needs. Using it with the app helps to make sure that Im not only brushing for 2 min but that Im also hitting all of the correct areas when I brush. The toothbrush and app keeps track of your progress. Ive noticed my teeth are cleaner and much whiter ans its long bristles gets deep in my gum area. I love this toothbrush! Its personalized and Ive customized it just for my brushing experience!

The 9900 is a great toothbrush, app needs work

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the 9900 but get frustrated with the app not picking up certain areas of my mouth while brushing. I have to hold the brush at a specific angle to get it to recognize that I am hitting that area. Other than that, excellent product and accessories.

Sonicare Meets Smart Phone Technology
on June 19, 2021

I’ve been a Philips Sonicare user for more years than I can remember. This is the toothbrush system my dentist recommends. Before Sonicare, my dental checkups used to be tortuous because I have a lot of plaque buildup. Since I switched to Sonicare, my hygienist never has to scrape my teeth like when I only used a manual toothbrush.
Having just gotten this newest Sonicare 9900 Prestige, Rechargeable Toothbrush with SenseIQ, I have to say it’s an amazing system. Do you really need an app monitored toothbrush? Probably not. But if you want the best dental cleaning experience plus having your teeth brushing monitored, the Sonicare 9900 does it and more.
With the 9900, Philips suggests this toothbrush will remove up to 20 times more plaque and your gums will be 15 times healthier in a few short weeks. That alone is worth investing in a good Sonicare toothbrushing system.
To get started, simply download the Philips Sonicare App from the App Store on either iPhone or Android and turn the toothbrush on. The app will recognize the toothbrush and connect your toothbrush via Bluetooth. Once you are connected, you can choose the order of the six pre-timed spacer zones (which buzz and alert you when it’s time to move the toothbrush to a different zone in your mouth). You can also program the toothbrush for zones which may need special attention like gum health. If you don’t own a smart phone and can’t use the app, you can change settings directly on the toothbrush by holding the power button for several seconds. But then if you don’t own a smart phone, you likely don’t need to buy a toothbrush which benefits from using a smart phone app.
It’s already preprogrammed at the highest intensity brushing for 2 minutes. But through the app, you can adjust the settings to White+, Gum Health, Deep Clean, Sensitive and it even can alert you if you are using too much pressure by lighting up the bottom of the toothbrush handle. Finally, the app can even send an update to the toothbrush handle. Mine came with the latest software version. My, how things in toothbrush technology have changed!
The toothbrush head on the Sonicare 9900 Prestige uses a Premium All-in One brush head with BrushSync Technology. It has a special symbol on the head and A3 to let you know it’s the right brush head for this system. BrushSync means, the toothbrush head communicates with handle using a microchip, it monitors brushing as well as when it’s time to replace the brush head. Since this is such a new system, replacement heads will need to be ordered directly from Philips. Maybe in the future there will be other buying options.
For traveling, the system comes with a very-nice compact travel case with a USB connector (standard USB A to USB C), covered in a stylish “vegan” friendly leather. You simply put the toothbrush in the travel case and plug the USB cable into the end of the case and the supplied charging brick to charge the toothbrush. This makes it simpler than having to carry the charging base the toothbrush sits in on with you. While the travel case is compact, it would have been nice if it was slightly larger and included a place to store the USB cable and charging brick.
Comparing this newest Sonicare to my previous Sonicare, it has the same solid feel in hand, yet its sleeker. It is a bit louder at the highest intensity. I do think my teeth feel cleaner though, so I’ll take louder for cleaner teeth. My previous Sonicare had what was called Quad-Spacer, which divided your mouth into 4 zones. This newer design has 6 zones (side/front/side top and bottom). I’m not sure why I need 6 zones as opposed to 4, but I’m adjusting.
If you have never experienced a Sonicare Toothbrush, you don’t know what you’re missing. I’ve entrusted Sonicare to care for my teeth for years and I know my teeth are cleaner, my gums are healthier, and my dental bills reduced. I’d like to keep all of my teeth as long as possible, so while not inexpensive, this system is well worth the price of admission if you want the absolute best there is. Do you have to spend this much for an electric toothbrush? No, of course not. If your budget doesn’t permit this highest end Sonicare, their other systems are excellent as well. And with years of using their toothbrushes, I simply cannot recommend them enough!

Good toothbrush but terrible software

Verified Purchase:Yes
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The tech is good but the software is a night mate:
1. Philips cheats on the cycles for the head brush replacement
2. The software hardly detect some part of your mouth when you brush so you always have to add extra brushing just because the software does not detect anything
But the tech is good: well used there is very little to no plaque forming .
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
