Disappointed

I did the firmware update after my first use, and the toothbrush stopped working. I need to return it but when I put the model number in, it says there's no product with that number. I'd really appreciate help with this. I bought this product because I had a Sonicare toothbrush that lasted 18 years, I counted on the reliability and reputation of the company to have this new one for a long time as well. I would still recommend this product because I know it’s good, I just got a lemon.

Hi,
Thanks for your review regarding your new Sonicare 9900 Prestige toothbrush. We are really sorry to hear that it has stopped working after you connected it to the app. We will be more than happy to help you with this issue. Could you first fully charge your Sonicare for 24 hours and test? If there are no improvements, can you reconnect your Sonicare to the app and allow any updates to complete. We hope by following these steps your Sonicare will power back on again for you.

Mixed success

I liked everything about this toothbrush -- its features, ease of use, light weight and precision. I was very excited to use the product because I felt it would make for a much better brushing experience. The unit stopped working after less than two weeks, despite the fact that I cleaned it after every use, never dropped it and kept it charged. Big disappointment, especially considering how expensive it was. I brought it back to the store for a full refund.

Deeply Flawed Product That Doesn't Last
on October 23, 2025

I have been using Sonicare toothbrushes for roughly 15 years and the once high quality is at an all-time low. I have had this toothbrush replaced 5+ times because the metal shaft that holds the head in place inevitably shakes itself loose. Sometimes it lasts a year, sometimes it lasts a few weeks, but it will happen and it makes the toothbrush unusable.
It's unacceptable for a top of the line model, let alone any model within the Sonicare product line, to not last more than a few weeks or months.
I would not recommend purchasing this product.

Really works better

After 2 uses, I could feel the difference in my teeth. I've used Sonicare for years, and this is best by far. No impressed with the APP, but the new head design gets between the teeth and makes my teeth feel smooth and clean. This time, I actually read and followed the brushing instructions. Hold the brush at 45 degree angle. I really don't care about the sensors, and the strength of the ultrasonic vibration seems similar to my old diamond clean. The travel case is compact. My last brush failed in less than 2 years, hopefully this will last longer. Photos show app feedback and comparison to older brush design.

Powerful and Effective

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The toothbrush comes with a nice travel case which has the capability to charge the toothbrush while still in the case. It also has a good charging base in which the charger is separate allowing for easy cleaning of the base when needed. The toothbrush has 3 different intensity settings. I used the strongest one. The toothbrush is a little loud on the strongest setting but its my teeth incredibly clean. With my regular toothbrush, I normally have some coffee stains even after brushing but noticed them lightening after one use of this toothbrush.

Just okay for the price.

The best part of this toothbrush is the case and type C charger. The case is compact and beautiful and the magnetic closure is good too although I wish it were a little stronger. The toothbrush itself works great. I would recommend to someone who does NOT change brush modes. I however do change brush modes. You can't do that from the handle of the brush, you must open the app on phone to do so. When you are rushing, that is not feasible. I also thought that this was a smart brush that would change modes based on the brush head being used but to my disappointment, that is not a feature either. I would like a little more weight in the brush handle as it feels like it's going to fall out of my hands quite a bit. It's not slippery, just weightless... feels cheap, especially when compared to the original sonicare Diamondclean. If you are like me, you want something beautiful in your bathroom and this brush just is not as beautiful as my white and silver original sonicare diamondclean. Speaking of white and silver, what are these horrible colors this 9900 comes in??? I have the champagne color thinking it would be tolerable but I'm definitely having buyers remorse. I have gone back to using my non smart diamond clean. One last thing, the app does not guide you to brush the biting surfaces of teeth so when you run your brush over those surfaces you will take time away from other surfaces and your app will say you did not brush for 2 minutes. The touch up option on app is hit or miss as it sometimes pops up and sometimes it doesn't. Do yourself a favor and just buy the non smart original diamondclean.

Whoever chose to put a touch sensitive control on an electric toothbrush should be fired and so should everyone who signed off on it

Don’t waste your money… get a different model

Let me start by saying I’ve been using a sonic are toothbrush for over a decade now. I bought this one because of the charger and cute color. It worked at first, but 6 months after using it, the toothbrush became abnormally loud. It think it has caused me significant hearing loss and I’m only in my thirties. I wish I would have stopped using it as soon as it became loud.

Hi Chelly,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear about your experience with our Sonicare, Please know that our electric toothbrushes should make a "buzzing" sound at around 60 decibel, which is comparable to the volume of a normal conversation at close distance. If this is not the case for you, we would like to ask if you could get in touch with us via social media, so we can have a closer look at this for you. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook and Twitter.
