It was a lot at first, but now I totally love it. I'd change a few things, like adding a room divider. My Roomba let me divide rooms wherever I wanted (from cupboards to the island), but with this one, it has to be from outer wall to outer wall. A lot of times the mopping pads will not click onto it so I have to do it myself which means if I want it to mop while away it won't work.
What I love most about it is how it mops under my bed and dressers.

Bout it on promotion and it worth every cent
I've tried another model couple years ago and it was disappointing but this one is a game changer!

Best Robot Vacuum I’ve Used So Far

I’ve been using the Dreame X40 Ultra for almost two weeks now (started around April 29), and honestly this is the first robot vacuum I’ve owned that truly feels reliable enough to use every day without constant babysitting.
This is actually my fourth robot vacuum.
My previous ones included:
- an iRobot
- a Narwal Freo
- and an older Dreame model that was around the $500-$600 range from Costco

Most of my previous robots had issues like:
- getting stuck around chair legs
- tangling themselves in cables
- struggling with rugs
- losing maps
- dropping mop pads
- or constantly needing manual rescue

I have a two-story house with a mix of carpet and tile floors, plus a cat that sheds a LOT, so my home is honestly a pretty difficult environment for robot vacuums.
The X40 Ultra has been completely different.
So far it:
- avoids cables surprisingly well
- handles furniture legs much better
- maps multiple floors properly
- transitions smoothly between carpet and tile
- cleans corners far better than my previous robots
- picks up an insane amount of cat hair
- automatically manages the mop pads really well

One thing I really appreciate is how clean the base station stays. My previous Narwal didn’t have an auto-empty dust collection system, so I constantly had to empty the dirty bin manually, and the area underneath the station would get messy very quickly. The X40 Ultra feels much more hands-off and hygienic overall.
What impressed me most is that it actually works well in a real lived-in home — not just in a clean showroom environment.
The carpet cleaning has been especially impressive. During the first few runs upstairs, it pulled out a shocking amount of embedded cat hair from the carpet.
I’ve only had a couple of small hiccups so far:
- once it got caught on a loose rug layered on top of carpet
- and twice I got a mop-pad installation warning

But overall, the experience has been dramatically better than any robot vacuum I’ve owned before.
For the first time, it finally feels less like a gadget and more like a real home appliance that quietly does its job properly.

Fonctionne super bien, aspiration excellente, et le lavage, il faut mettre un peu plus humide dans les paramètres pour ma situation vu les traces de pattes de mon chien, mais j'en suis très satisfaite.
Une fois qu'on est à l'aise avec l'application et le fonctionnement, je recommande car me sauve beaucoup de temps et vu que j'ai souvent mal au dos, il est parfait pour moi.

Better than sliced bread

As an adult this is probably the best purchase I have ever made for my house hold. My floors have never been cleaner. Mostly because I hate that chore and I don’t want to make the time for it. Ro-berta is an absolute cleaning machine it handles all of our floors from hard surfaces to cowhides and everything in between.
