I've only used this tiller for a few hours so I cannot speak of durability. Over the years I've owned two Mantis (gas) tillers. They are great machines and I decided to try something electric this time. The Sun Joe handles very similar to a Mantis and with equal or maybe a little more power. The ground I've tilled so far is challenging and this tiller runs through it with power to spare. Stringy weeds and roots tend to wind around the tines and need removing from time to time (same with a Mantis). The price is very affordable and I don't have to deal with fuel.

Did exactly what I asked it to do. Tilled up a 20 by 45 foot area of virgin lawn for first time garden. Worked it over in one direction and then rotated my work area 90 degrees and finished the tilling. I spread it out over a portion of two days due to my age. The machine was capable of doing it one, but not me.....
Pros: Low Vibration, Reduced Noise, Ease Of Assembly, Features, Easy To Use, Quality Construction, Style/Design, Handling/Manueverability, Weight, Quality Cut
It works Osome, This my little monster which tilled my whole 5000 Sqr feet clay soil hard backyard with little effort. It's small in size but fast and sharp. I have already recommend it to my friends and some of them already bought it.
I used this tiller on some ground that I partially dug up. It had some roots in it from some shrubs that I pulled out. It worked great, it even kicked out the small roots without bogging down. It worked better when I pulled the tiller backwards. When I did that the tiller dug down deep and the ground was chopped up real fine. It worked excellent and I am looking forward to use it next spring.
I needed to break up hard-packed clay and turn in amendments to make a lawn. I literally dig holes in our flower beds with a pick ax and knew I needed a machine to break up a whole yard. I figured the price was right to take a chance on an electric machine. It paid off. This thing broke the ground and I was surprised at the fist sized rocks it was kicking out. I even discovered a brick in the back yard when this machine dug it up and threw it out. Grass is growing great now. Could not be more pleased.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We would have paid twice as much to rent one it works great and we love be it! It will also be great for telling our garden every year ☺
I am 63 years old with arthritis and this machine was easy to handle and did a great job with my soul.

First of all, this is super easy to assemble - just have to attach the handle. I used it today for the first time to till a vegetable garden that was put in last year. It did a great job. It digs deeper if you let it go forward a few feet and then pull it back. And that's really easy to do with this. I would have given it 5 stars but for the following: The handle is too long and it's non- adjustable. To get down deep, you need to have the handle is a fairly upright position. I'm 6 feet and the handle is a bit too high for my liking. It would be really tough for someone around 5' or 5'5" to use this comfortably without adjusting the length of the handle which cannot be done. The angle of the handle is not adjustable either and it would be much more comfortable to use if I could drop the handle a bit. It throws a lot of dirt forward and that can be a problem around the edge unless you plan for it. Overall, I'm 100% satisfied with the way it tore through the garden in no time without stumbling even once. They just need to work on that handle!
