An Interesting Variation

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] JBL TUNE FLEX (I like the name)
An interesting concept. Give the option of using the earbuds interchangeable ear tips or the hard plastic. More on this later.
A lot of the usual's in packaging so as cardboard doesn’t make music. “nuff said!
Opened the package and wrapped around the interior packaging was a big suggestion to use the app on your phone. Good idea. The buds had over a 50% charge so directly to setup and listening. The download for the JBL app was done previous and no issues on my android phone. The app recognized the tune flex immediately. And on to my preferred music.
So for my testing the thought of semi methodical was put on hold. My tastes change moment to moment. So listened to podcasts, videos inc documentary, Gregorian Chants, Big Band, Classic Rock, Country & Western and a few thing I am not sure what they were! Came away with a few thoughts.
The JBL App proved its worth. With each variation or genre the equalizer provided a better way to listen. With in the equalizer is, Extreme Bass, vocal, Bass, Club & Studio. My over all preference was Studio and Club for music and vocal for most posdasts. Now my Grand Daughter has a different set of choices. So again the app is worthwhile. And hey easy to use.
Female vocals on a podcast came out ahead. Did great on Big Band and even better with Classic Rock and Country & Western. Did well on a wide variety of music and dealt with quality of music recording very well.
Now my phone (the brand called expensive) doesn’t like earbuds to do phone calls. Just the answering and hanging up be the issue. Maybe with trial and mostly error this will improve. The voices on the other end did sound wonderful and I was told my voice was clear and unmuffled.
The earbuds standard are a hard plastic with minimal interchangeable ear-tips. Amazingly comfortable with the smallest ear-tip but bass suffers. Theses are the tips installed from the factory. By experimenting figured out which ear-tip worked the best for me. Compromise between comfort and bass. Now the case is where the buds are charged. Just a “C” type connection and few LED lights to get the job done.
The Tune Flex are an overall decent pair of electronics. They do the job they are designed for and do a fairly good job at the same time. But a couple of negatives. How about a one meter charging cord not the ¼ meter cord furnished. And how about adding orange racing stripes to the case. The black case has a tendency to disappear now and again.
There is more to these earbuds, but no need to drag out a review. I like these and would replace if lost.

Amazing bass & quality sound! 🎶

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The reason I agreed to review these earbuds is because I wanted to try something new. My current earbuds have a limited amount of battery power. Only four and a half hours of maximum playtime. Which is not enough for me. With these coming in at 10x that, I was happy to try them out. Right out of the box, both earbuds were 100% charged and the case was 80% charged. Inside the box was the two earbuds, charging case, short usb-c charging cord, (no power adapter) one set of “open” ear tips, another set of small medium and large “sealing” ear tips & a quick start guide. Initially I connected the earbuds by way of going to my settings, then Bluetooth, then by pressing the connect button, I was able to pair them instantly. After that I installed the JBL app by way of the QR code inside the quick start guide. Then I opened the app and since I’d already connected them previously they were already displayed and connected. The JBL app has a multitude of different settings that outperform all others I have used. You can easily open it and change the settings to your liking. Within the app there is ambient sound control. Which is where you can activate noise canceling, ambient aware & talk thru. I found the best sound came when I had the active noise cancelling activated. These earbuds advertise as having “pure bass” and “zero noise”. The bass on them is superior and the zero noise feature (active noise canceling) is on point. In order to have these fit in my ear I had to remove the pre installed “open” ear tip and replace it with large “sealing” ear tip. This was not easy to do. It made me really frustrated and it took me way too long to replace. As far as touch controls on the earbuds it’s the typical standard of one tap for play pause, two taps for fast forward, three taps for rewind. Double tap to answer or hang up an incoming call. And long press for mic. My expectation for these earbuds was average based on their price point. Their sound quality, active noise cancelling and battery life exceeded my expectations. However, I don’t like that they don’t automatically stop functioning when I pull them out of my ear. It has to be done manually. The touch control on the ear bud is activated accidentally when handling them. The earbuds were not easy to pull out of the charging case each time. I expected them to have better grip but was disappointed when I struggled to grasp them. The charging case is very lightweight. It has a matte finish which also makes it difficult to hold onto. But I am fairly pleased overall with these JBL tune flex earbuds. Definitely the best features are their sound quality (including bass), active noise cancelling, and extra, extra long battery life. Thanks JBL!

JBL Tune Flex Fits The Bill

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quite simply some of the best earbuds I've had the pleasure of owning in a long while. I'm a stickler for clarity and in any genre of music I want to hear every note! A difficult task to handle through audio channels but this product fit the bill in every way. Bottom bass tones were marked but not overpowering. High end was clear and the notes rang like a bell. Midrange also captured subtle vocal characteristics not easily translated on other devices. Again, JBL is justifying it's respected brand name by continuing to produce leading edge consumer electronics.

Ok but a little disappointing

Disappointed with these. They don’t fit in your ears and will fall out. Sound quality and noise cancelling is pretty good if you can manage to fit them properly in your ears. I’ve tried all the different sized rubber bits they give you but I think it’s an issue with the shape and size of the actual ear bud. They feel heavy in your ears and always feel like they’re about to fall out. You can push them back in but they’ll only stay that way for a couple seconds before they start to shift and eventually fall out. Don’t walk, run, bend over or chew while wearing them or they will fall out. The actual quality is pretty good for the price though.

Thanks for your feedback on our JBL Tune Flex. We understand that it didn't meet your expectations. To give you the best seal and secure fit, gently twist the earbud to fit it securely into the shape of your ear, then, continue twisting the earbud into your ear canal. If you need more help, please contact our Customer Support so we assist you.

Great budget friendly earbuds

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL tune flex are one of the best budget friendly earbuds that you can get at this time in my opinion. The earbuds sound great and have goid bass. The trick is to try on the different ear tips to see which soud you prefer and to see how much sound you want to let in from the outside world..I also like that you can listen to either earbuds by themselves without one having to be the slave. Also the call quality is pretty good .You get alot for the price. The only thing i dont like is that the case is really slippery to me .Other than that i think they are great.Don't forget to download the App.

May be IPX4 and suitable for workouts, but...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These True Wireless earphones has IPX4 for intense workouts, but make sure you don't immense yourself during heavy squalls and/or go scuba diving with these, as these aren't appropriate for scuba diving. For optimal noise cancelling and deep detailed JBL-quality sound, keep your ear tip settings at "open ear tips" on the JBL Headphones app, which are required to optimize the JBL Tune Flex. It will work with "Sealed Ear Tips" but don't expect wind noise reduction with that "switch". I had to play "Broken" by Seether from their album "Disclaimer II" (Courtesy of Wind-Up Records, distributed by Sony) and two versions of "Calm Agitation" (Zankuro's Theme from the video game Samurai Shodown IV: Amakusa's Ascent--called "Samurai Sprits" in Japan by SNK, music by SNK Sound Team) a couple of times just for the sake of this review. Obviously the JBL Tune Flex works BEST using the "Open Ear Tip" setting on the JBL Headphones App. So in order to get the best possible audio, you will have to use the desired "Open Ear Tip" setting because these ear tips aren't closed-ear. In fact these have strict JBL Headphones App setting requirements for the best enjoyment possible. So unless you're used to "open ear" earbuds, then these aren't for you, as often closed-canal earbuds are better for JBL Newbies. These truly wireless earbuds were meant for the intermediate JBL product user and "jocks" who don't mind some background noise during their workouts. There are more beginner-friendly JBL headphone offerings as these aren't for JBL newbies.

Versatile earbuds with dynamic sound

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These new earbuds are bound to be a hit with all users. You can use them with sealing tips or without. I tried both ways, the medium sealing tips are my favorite and seem to offer a more secure fit for my ears. Bluetooth is easily connected and has a very strong signal. The JBL app offers an easy interface to custom tune the sound and noise canceling settings. The find my buds feature is really nice if you tend to misplace things. Battery life is exceptional and charging times are very acceptable. These buds are a little difficult to grab out of the charging case, but that is minor.

Washer incident

I accidentally put these headphones though the washer and dryer… I thought they were done for… I took them ear buds out of the case and let them sit for over 12 hours so they dry out and they are working normally now!
