Power failures are more frequent with an aging infrastructure built in the 1920's. The line loss plays hell with the electron flow of your valuable electrical/electronic components and this device is cheap insurance and a line conditioner to ensure a smooth flow. I use Tripp- Lite for all of my installations and I do not receive "call backs" from my customers for PSU failure issues.
This will help relieve any problems with damage if there is a power failure. We had a surge protector, but damage occurred when power when off during writing to harddrive.
My last UPS died after five years and after doing my homework decided that this ultra compact was my best option. It arrived promptly and was easy to set up and since then has performed well. As I live just outside Orlando which is the world lightning capital I need a UPS that I can rely on.
I have purchased 2 of these for our optometric office. One had to be strapped to the base under a retinal camera - and it fit easily. The other went in a corner next to our NAS. Again, lots of space. Set-up was a snap. And, of course, I got the reliability of a TrippLite product.
Power went out briefly while I was on a phone call and taking notes on my computer. Good news: Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) number 1 kept computer running while I saved files; UPS 2 (Tripp Lite) kept wifi and phone (also over the Internet) up and running. No interruption except my hooting and hollering about it working. Finally, an insurance policy I was able to use. Highly recommend having UPS on the rare occasion we get real weather.
This small UPS keeps my router, cable box and a couple other devices up and running when we have power hits. So far I've bought 3 of them for various parts of the house to keep small electronics running and they've worked excellent each time they've been needed.
We use this for a very compact mobile recording rig. We don't need a lot of wattage, but we need it to be lightweight and easy to pack. So far this has filled the bill very nicely! Also big kudos to Tripplite tech support, who set us up with this unit.
