Instructiins are non existent. Clearly im not te h savy lol. Once I finally figure out how to get it working with the app maybe ill like it better, but obviously no instructions for that
Randomly shuts down all the time. Software is not user friendly. Hard to download to phone. Wish I stayed with Thinkware instead of trying this.the two times I needed footage it was shut off. A complete waste of money.
Great camera, took half an hour to set up and run the wires. Excellent video. Worth the price. The software that allows 24 hour viewing from my phone, and sort videos was easy to use.
I brought this dash cam almost one and half years ago, the memory card that came with it started showing an error “Need high speed sd card” within a week. And till today’s date, I have almost spent $200 on different memory cards and none of those has worked fine. After recording for 2-3 minutes, every-time it says “Need high Speed SD card”, then I after pressing menu button, it starts recording and again after 2-3 minutes it shows same issue. Strongly not recommending this dash cam. Almost every friend of mine use dash cams, none of them have ever faced this issue. The worst part is this one of the expensive dash cam.
I never write a review until I have owned the product for a minimum of 8-12 months as things rarely fail in the first couple of months. Bought the Scout Pro 4K. Nice cameras, great images, however make sure you purchase a much larger micro SD card than the ridiculously small capacity card that is included. Also install the card before you snap the camera into the base. They are not easy yo get out once the camera is installed.
Three major isuues
1. The mounting system is flimsy and cheap. The interface between camera and base is just a cheap, flimsy plastic base. I'm afraid to remove the camera from the base for fear of snapping the clip. After several months of use the camera became loose on the horizontal axis. Not sure how to tighten it without removing the entire camera. Which brings me to point 2.
2. Wish they had instructions in the manual. Before anyone thinks...Just YouTube it, it isn't the consumer's responsibility. Even an online PDF or directions would have been helpful, but there is nothing there. Just the VERY basics. Not even any suggestions for proper mounting. Not sure why they even bother to include it.
3. The single most important thing to know if you buy this. I hardwired my camera into the OBD. In order to use the autorecord function you must have a live connection to the power system. I did not test this on my vehicle as all the 12v (cigarette lighter) connections go dead once my vehicle is shut off. There is a physical On/Off switch on the connector. In the on position the camera will be able to power up and record when motion is detected. In the off position you will not get a security recording. Left mine in the On position permanently. DOING THIS DRAINED MY BATTERY MULTIPLE TIMES TO THE POINT WHERE IT RUINED IT. I drive a nicer higher end vehicle and $300 camera has now cost mw another $1200 for a new battery so buyer beware. Keep in in the off position when you don't need the security feature, which is why I purchased this brand in the first place.
