I've been using these devices for a number of years and they've always provided good reliable service. Easy to install and configure, easy to use web GUI. And since every device in my data center runs through one, the SNMP capabilities allow me to see track my entire power utilization in one centralized place. One caveat. I'm normally a text-UI guy, but this one is so counter-intuitive that I exclusively use the web interface. I once shut down an entire PDU through the text UI when I was just trying to power cycle one device. That event was what taught me to disable the text UI and just go with the web.

Good product, questionable documentation

The unit seems to work well. Just installed in a new data center space. Network interface has some challenges. Main one was the document saying the access credentials to get started are "admin" and "admin". A web search uncovered the "root" and "TrippLite" credentials that should have been listed, with which I got into the RS-232 interface and set up some other accounts and passwords. The Web GUI requires Java. It does not work with the latest Java if you're on a Mac. Better have VMware handy and a Windows virtual machine as you'll need those. Oh, and the Java Applets aren't signed properly, so you will have to dial down your Java security settings. It's really too bad the interface isn't built with present web technology such as JQuery/AJAX/JavaScript. That'd work across browsers and avoid all this mess with Java. It'd result in a better interface, too. The command line interface via TELNET or SSH works reasonably well. I'm guessing that's what I'll use most often.
