My wife is Chinese and cooks in high heat with some oil. After 3 years,I had to have our A/C unit disassembled and cleaned of a lot of cooking oil! The microwave fan and filter system was ineffective. The Hauslane fan is wonderful! absolutely not escapes this fan. I strongly recommend this product. I don't like the razor sharp edges on the stainless steel panel and the connection to the vent kit could be better.

After a lot more research than I needed to do I decided on the PS38. Way back about 15 years ago we did an addition to our home. In the process we replaced the hood. It was terrible.....but just as terrible as the one we had so we thought that was just the way it was. I like to burn a lot of food, on purpose, asparagus and stuff. Anyway, our house would fill with smoke, we's open a couple windows and that would take care of mnost of it. NOW, NO OPEN WINDOWS AND NO SMOKE!!! This thing sucks it all up the vent. Great purchase. Installation takes some time, but it is worth the time. Buy it now.

Quite a while ago I purchased UC-PS38 hood. While being problem free and excellent performer for years the LCD control panel developed a few dead pixels an had to be replaced. I'm from Canada and was advised to contact US office for the help. I was kind of skeptical... BUT I've not only received a response from support team whiting a few minutes but also was offered a free shipping for the part I need! That's what I call a Customer Service! Thank you guys a lot for supporting your customers!

Tough to install, but works exactly as desired

Was in the market for range hood to replace the microwave hood that came with the house. After doing some research I decided to go the UC-PS38 based on the price, look, features (mainly the perimeter suction) - later found that the auto shut-off is a hidden feature on this model which was a pleasant surprise (hold power for a few seconds while on to set the shut off timer). I haven't fully tested the hood (i do plan to sear something that would likely require the highest setting), but so far it has worked perfectly for anything i've cooked (only needed 3 bars) and the perimeter suction does seem to catch most of the vapors when using the front burners. It's only been a few days cooking with it so i haven't used the steam cleaning features yet, but i'm sure it'll be very nice feature to have.
As others have stated, installing it is a bit of pain and could've been made easier. Originally planned to have someone install it for me, but after doing enough research I decided I should be able to do it myself. I had to make some adjustments to the cabinet - carve out a circular hole for the duct, drill a hole into the cabinet for the power outlet and add some filler wood for extra reinforcement and to make the recessed cabinet flush. I definitely recommend getting some cabinet jacks to lift and hold the hood in place. Due to the locations of the back screw holes, it's extremely hard to drill up through the hood into the cabin even with a 12 inch extender- i probably should've marked the spots and drilled pilot holes to make it easier. I actually lost a couple screws in the hood somewhere while trying to drill the last back screw. The power cord does seem poorly placed since it's right next to the other back screw.. you ultimately end up drilling up right into the wood next to the wood. i did have concerns that the opening i made was too big/close to where i needed to drill.. it did take a bit longer to complete, but i was able to do it and so far it hasn't fallen off the cabinet :D.

Beautiful Addition to Our Kitchen

The hood arrived in perfect condition, packed well and on time. The instructions are written well and all in all the hood is easy to install. More than one person is required unless you have the fancy jacks to lift the hood into its final destination. I was concerned about the 6 inch vent on the unit since my house has 4 inch duct that is in the walls and I'm not able to swap them out unless I'm willing to break through some of those walls. So I bought a 6 inch to 4 inch reducer and it works great. the hood is beautiful and VERY functional. It moves a serious amount of air and pulls all smoke, steam and smells out from over the oven. I highly recommend it!
