[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My new P16v Gen 2 is working as expected. I like the slightly taller screen than my P15 Gen 1 has.

Mostly amazing laptop

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m an Engineering major at college, and the ThinkPad P16v offers very good performance, although it is rather expensive I do believe that for those who need the extra power it is worth the money. My only complaint is that it claims that the laptop can do USB-C charging but I haven’t been able to get it to work, and when looking for help online I was getting mixed messages.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very pleased so far - 3 weeks in. Laptop performing as advertised. No significant negatives so far, just the expected annoyances with moving files and setting up stuff on new machine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent laptop for running engineering software, I was able to run Solid works without it crashing or my computer didn't sound like it was about to explode!

Work Computer for Travel

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This computer was purchased to run the latest AutoDesk products for in the field and out of the office travel. MS-365 is also used.
The Key features that made this the computer of choice besides it's processing power that hit the mark are as follows.
* Numerical keyboard on the right side.
* USB (USB-3 & USB-C) ports
* Wired NIC port
* Manual camera shutter
* Being able to toggle the FN function key to a setting like "caps" lock, as someone that uses many function keys (F1 - F12) this is a great feature on a tablet/laptop.
With many tablets and computers going in the direction of smaller screens, the larger screen size is a strong plus.
I had 3 other ThinkPads over the years and went with a smaller screen unit by another manufacture before switching back to the Lenovo ThinkPads line. This unit does not have the touch screen my last laptop had, and I miss it for giving presentations at lectures and video conference calls, but I have to say the screen stays cleaner when you don't touch it all the time.
A few things I would prefer that the laptop misses on are the following, but these are personal preferences and are the same for all laptops in general for me.
1. Simpler way to set the laptop to boot up with the numlock key on other than manually editing the boot code
2. No USB ports on the left side, and the slots set to the back on the sides rather than the front. As someone who uses portable drives to travel with large files, having the ports on the right side and closer to the front, conflict with my portable mouse use and or note pad writing.
3. HDMI port to close to the front which lead to the cables reducing space to place other items on the limited space of lecture podiums.
Even with these common flaws IMO that all manufactures make, the Lenovo ThinkPad line of computer is by far the best Laptop for my use and highly recommend the line.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The laptop stop working after one day. On the first day the laptop got very hot when downloading software. Once it shut down and there is no way to tunt it on the second day but only the fan noise.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Coming into the 2020s is hard

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I chose this unit as a replacement for a trusty and wildly out-of-date Lenovo T470s. I have used nothing but Thinkpads for decades now (back to the IBM days), and appreciate the quality first and foremost, and the features. My goal was to have an AI-ready machine with plenty of capacity, if not the absolute latest state of the art.
Beginning with the "good" news - I now have the GPU and CPU to run decent local AI tools at a good clip. The larger screen (16" vs 14") is useful and I am loving the capacity for now.
It is a big and heavy machine. The power block is enormous and heavy as well. The greater power requirements means I can't use the half-dozen power blocks of various kinds I collected for my older machine. However, it still fits my legacy backpack, and I used to carry a Compaq Portable around, so the trade-offs don't phase me.
My biggest issue is the keyboard. Not the quality, but 1) good news - dedicated numeric keypad, but 2) bad news - mirroring my old keyboard, that part is not as wide (See photo with a template from my old keyboard on the new keyboard). My limited touch typing goes awry with the smaller and left shifted arrow and Backspace/Delete keys. I know I'll get used to them eventually.
The power button/fingerprint sensor is smaller and more difficult to use reliably for me compared to its predecessor.
The utility software, like "Glance", and basic Win 11 features that changed from Win 10 on my old machine have been more aggravating than helpful.
I miss the USB-A ports of my older unit. I had three USB-A and one USB-C; now I have one USB-A and two USB-C, and had to purchase a hub to expand on it. USB-C hubs cost more than USB-A hubs.
Sound - built-in speakers do not wow me. OK for basic voice, not a multi-media machine.
I have not used it off-power enough to report on battery life.
I would recommend this to a friend!
