Powerful Dock!

Apart from initial setup issues, dock has been working flawlessly so far. On smaller laptops that have a USB C charger, please note that you don't connect it there otherwise the other ports won't work. You need to connect it to one of the other available thunderbolt ports so the laptop can see all the other accessories. Then you have to allow it connect. After that, it's plug and play.
I would recommend this to a friend!

initial setup could be painful.

setting this up was painful, the usb ports didn't work and it took a while to find the proper drivers and software to get it working. doing a search resulted in mix recommendations and each driver/software combo required reboots.
once it running it seems to work fine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent Dock

I am using the dock at work with a T480. So I bought one for my brand new T490, and I am very satisfied. I have experienced lots of docking stations, and lots of then do not handle multi monitors, DisplayPort MST, 4 K Monitors, as good as this Lenovo docking station.
I ended up buying another one for my Mac Mini, so I can use my 4K monitors with my Mac Mini. Honestly, I am surprised with the quality, stability, multi monitors handling, with this ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock Gen 2.
For people struggling with their Surface Book or Surface Laptop, when it comes to external monitors, believe me, buy this ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock Gen 2, you won't be disappointed.
Here are the configurations I have validated, for working perfectly.
Lenovo T480
2 x 4K monitors plugged to ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock Gen 2
Lenovo T490
2 x 4K monitors plugged to ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock Gen 2
1 FHD Monitor plugged in my T490 HDMI connector.
Mac Mini
2 x 4K monitors plugged to ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock Gen 2

Frequent momentary loss of second video screen, difficult to make physical connection to laptop, sometimes issue syncing with laptop requiring me to shut down and restart... Overall don't see this as worth the terribly high price...

Expensive for what it does.

Mostly does what it is supposed to do. One star less for not emphasizing a key installation instruction, how to enable the thunderbolt driver so that it has permission to interact with the dock. Another star less for the dock needing to be reset periodically as it stops recognizing the 2 external monitors present. Gets pretty warm to the touch.
