Great tool to have in your kit

I have had my DCS 496B for about six months and have to say it's great. I am a contractor and work with steel mills and processors all the time so having a tool that cuts most metals of varying gauges is a must. When I'm cropping back light gauge cold rolled steel, aluminum, tin, or stainless I give my shear a real workout. Recently I was working on a job removing damaged wraps from tin coils (bound for a can producer in Chicago) I made over 500 cuts (41 inches on 0.33 mm plastic wrapped tinplate) in one day on one 5ah battery. I have lent my shear to several other guys going to do the same type of work and they've fallen in love with it. If you work with sheet metal on a regular basis and have already invested into the 20V max Dewalt system of tools you owe it to yourself to get one of these shears. I purchased mine used at a pawn shop (used with one battery and a charger) and have no hesitation in buying a new one if this one dies. I do have a few notes on future improvements but they are minor and come from making 3000 cuts in a week.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Disappointing Upgrade

Overall love the Dewalt offset shears, been using the 18V version for 12+ years and always been one of my favorite tools. Upgraded to the 20V version but disappointed in the tool free swivel design. There's too much play in the design and cutting straight is almost impossible, like trying to drive straight with a loose steering wheel. The older version you had to use a allen wrench to rotate the head, something I rarely need to do, but at least you could tighten the head again. This version you can't tighten the head and it drives me crazy when making cuts around windows, overhead doors etc. where cuts are more visible.
