The setup of my Asus 88u router went well with the only hiccup was finding the NAT passthrough for my server. There are two separate places in the menu; one for ip6 and the other for ip4.

Three Asus mesh routers solved challenging weak spots in our home network. The RT-BE88U served as the Mesh hub. The ability to bind devices to particular mesh nodes made the system work well and stay working repeatedly. This was crucial to achieve the performance needed for some devices in the network.

Lots of good information on this router out on Youtube, flawless setup and I named it what my older router was named and it did not skip a beat on all my IOT devices. The only thingI ran into was being able to print from IOS devices when setting up my printer on the USB as an LPR. No problem I moved it to a network port and didn't look back, problem resolved. LPR printing worked fine for the PC just not the IOS and andriod devices. I like to print my grocery list from the frig when I'm not looking in it from my iphone at the grocery store. Some of the best control features I have ever had on a home router with tons of security you can use with no monthly subscriptions or extra costs. THis router has everything and then some. The tools it has built in are some of the best and for the person that is not techy it is very quick and easy to setup following the prompts. If you are replacing your current and already have home automation just name it exactly the same using the current passwords and it is flawless. Guest wifi can be linked to Alexa and you can turn it on and off via voice command or set a timer for guests visiting like your mom and spy on the sites she is going to. You can also use parental setup and cut off the kids every night setting their network connection to turn off in a scheduller. It monitors any attacks and stops them and records events. You can monitor every site people are going or turn it off if you are being naughty. It has a ton of features you will dive into. Extremely fast and stable, My biggest complaint is I did not get it sooner and have been watching Youtubes that studder for the past year. I bought this in mind I would use my old router as an AP but after setting this up I don't want my NG anywhere near this ASUS configuration so in the box of old toys it went. This is plenty giving me massive coverage. It also has VLAN capabilities as well if I ever need them. I feel like I'm on an enterprise network. Do yourself a favor and get the RT-BE88U before another model takes it's place.

I replaced two routers that were not configured with AIMESH. I used to switch between connections when I wanted to connect to devices connected to one or the other router. It was time to upgrade the routers as they were aging. I bought a pair of RT-BE88U routers and cloned them as an AIMESH pair. I am now enjoying the single wi-fi network with great coverage at both ends of my dwelling and all my devices are accessible from a single connection. Very happy with the performance also.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased this router as an upgrade to an old Linksys router based on product reviews and my own experience with Asus products. The router is powerful with good features, easy to set up, and provides Wifi & capability and good features and functionality.
