Very comfortable, pretty accurate and awesome battery life , lil bit of learning cure to overcome on maps , but easy to track back

Price is right

I have a Forerunner 935 (4 years old) and with age it has lost some key features (altitude, temperature seems off) since most of my training is in the mountains, I wanted to try my luck with the Instinct. The instinct seems to match the 935 in features but feels a little flimsy with plastic buttons that remind me of the 90's timex ironman watch. I don't expect this to last as long as the 935, but I could be wrong. I don't plan to swim with this watch, I will use the 935 since I believe the chlorine is the culprit to several features on the 935 deteriorating.
I will still buy this watch just feel the buttons are not on the same level as the 935 in durability. As for the next question on your mind I could not justify paying the difference from the instinct 2 to a forerunner 955 at this time.

Efficient and powerful without all the fluff

I was looking for an upgrade to my VivoActive 3 and had always been interested in the Instinct line of watches. I appreciate the ruggedness and overall intention of doing everything that is needed without all the unnecessary extras and gimmicks. The Instinct 2 gives you more options than most people will ever use and does this in specific, well designed apps and features, and not done just fill out a list. Even the watch face design with its memory-in-pixel monochromatic look screams efficiency.
I use it to for running, weight training, light hiking, and cycling. With the the new upgraded features, I also use it for sleep tracking and general health metrics. It performs better than my older VivoActive 3 in terms of accuracy and easy of use. Not to mention the battery life at full charge is nearly 3 weeks even while doing one or more activities per day, 5 days a week.
Some people might be turned away because of the lack of color and limited watch face options, but to me, I like the simplicity and efficiency it brings. Even the default layout, after I customized the data fields, is almost exactly the kind of data-rich face that I had tried to mimic on my old watch.
I couldn't be happier with this watch!

Asked for this for Christmas to replace my Suunto Core watch that I’ve had since my 2012 Afghanistan deployment and I can’t say enough how pleased I am with the Instinct 2. The heart rate monitor, the steps and flights of stairs tracking, having the weather right on my wrist, PLUS the navigation features… just perfect. This is the NON solar model and the battery lasts about three weeks or so and it only takes an hour or two to charge fully. If you’re on the fence, just get it.

Great features for the price

I was looking for a watch to help keep better records of heart rate and workouts as well something I could use in the mountains and not have to constantly have my phone out. This watch has all the features I need while not being too much to be a challenge to work. The price point was definitely a bonus.
