Unbelivable battery life

I've had this 3 weeks and love all the features this has. I upgraded from the foreman 45 and I am blown away.

easy to read in dim light

I have had this watch for about 3 weeks now. I can compare it to the original instinct and the newer 2x. The readout seems easiest to see in dim light.
It is easy to use with the same type learning curve as the other instincts. More battery life than the original. Gives me a morning report (like the 2x). Customizing the data screens is wonderful and it locks on satellites nicely.
Feels noticeably lighter and smaller than the 2x.
I like it a lot and will use it mainly for day hikes in the backcountry on vague trails and for bushwhacking.......
For longer trips I will use the 2x and the original instinct is now my backup to this one.

Colors of case and wristband don’t match

Such an expensive watch but not even the colors of the watch and wristband match. I got the instinct 2 in Limone / Lime. The watch menu is not snappy either. You cannot change what apps should send push notifications. I could go on and on. Very disappointing. My much cheaper smartwatch from another brand is - unfortunately- much better.

Great Features! GYM Teaching and HUNTING

This is my second Garmin Watch. The features on this are incredible. I love how it syncs with my phone automatically after a connection interruption (Getting too far away from my phone or after a run). I am a Gym teacher and I use it in the gym to control the music over the PA system. I can skip songs, control volume, pause and restart. This makes it perfect for circuits or stations. I also like the fact that I don't have to have my phone on me when the office or principal calls... my watch alerts me.
I am also an avid hunter. When I go on scouting missions I like to have the tracker app on to determine where I had traveled. One time I got lost in the woods and I used the Garmin to point me back to the parking lot. It was pretty scary and the watch gave me confidence that I would make it back.

For the price the feature set on this watch can't be beat. Been using the watch for about a month now and pretty happy with it. A number of metrics that I have not had access to on my previous watch, so had a bit of a learning curve. Previous watch also had a touch screen, but I do not miss it with the Instinct 2. Buttons and commands/options are easy to learn and use.

Treadmill distance is way off

I bought this a few weeks ago. I do my workouts on a treadmill. I do the same workout every time and the distance is all over the place and is not consistent from one workout to the next. One time it tells me 7 miles and the next day it tells me 3. I have calibrated it several times and it does not help. I try it with GPS on and off and the results are always the same. If you want to use it for a treadmill I would not purchase it. I know the distance should be about 5.2 miles based on my stride length and steps taken and it never adds up. The setting for custom stride length does not have any effect at all. You would think a well respected brand like Garmin would be able to figure it out but apparently not.

I bought my watch a couple of weeks ago, and I must say I love it! I was also looking at an Apple Watch, but didn’t want to spend that kind of money. I found this watch while I was looking up alternatives, and after a few hours of research decided that what I really wanted out of an Apple Watch that the Instinct 2 would do and in cases do it better and at a much better price point! So glad I made this purchase!
