I purchased a 608 in large part due to the promised 41K pages per cartridge. It's tough to get over 30K - apparently, HP considers 6 lines of type a full page. Very misleading.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi,
I'm sorry that you have had this experience. The page yield estimates are based on industry standards, which will not always reflect what is seen in real life situations.
Provided that the cartridge is not damaged or defective, ink usage will determine how long it will last. High-density prints (such as photos) will require more toner.
You can use the printer's draft mode and black-only settings, whenever possible, to save toner.
If the page yield seems to be due to a defective cartridge, or you have other concerns, you can contact us at: hp.com/contactHP
Have not used this yet as the one that came with new printer has not run out. But HP LaserJet toner cartridges cannot be beat. Would not put anything else in my machines
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am extremely happy with my new HP M608. I only have owned HP printers and have been extremely pleased with this printer. It’s amazing. The print quality is top notch and the speed of the printing is very fast.
