I purchased the chair specifically as a comfortable chair for reading not as a desk chair. The soft padded arms are perfect to support elbows holding a book and the recline angle is good not excessive. One alteration I would like to see is that the spring on the recline mechanism had a little less tension would recline to full distance easier. Overall I am quite please and look forward to many reading hours in my den in this chair.
