It is a sturdy, well-built chair that I use for several hours a day at my desk.

Display vs Purchased

I went to my nearby Staples store and sat in every chair they had on display. Out of all of the more affordable chairs, the Rutherford was my favorite. I waited a couple of days and then went back again this evening. I sat in them all again and my opinion hadn't changed -- still liked the Rutherford. I purchased it, brought it home and here I sit leaving a 3-star review on a chair that i thought would be 5-stars. Why only three stars? This chair is not half as padded and comfortable as the display model in the store. The store model was soft and squishy. The back of the chair reached the small of my back. It was at the same height as the chair that I'm sitting in now, but it felt completely different -- nicer. This chair is actually lumpy -- not even close to the same as the one I sat in at Staples. The back is softer than the seat, but doesn't fit me as well. I'm not sure I understand why, but I am sure that I'm unhappy with my purchase. It almost feels like it's been used -- like the padding has been squashed and worn down. The packaging looked brand new and the chair looks perfectly nice, but it feels wrong.
If it wouldn't be so much work to take it apart, put it back in the box and return it to the store, I might actually consider it but it's not something that I can easily do and I don't know if it's worth the headache. I may feel otherwise tomorrow after a day of sitting in it for work, but for now I will just shop around for a cushion that will (hopefully) make it better.
I don't think I'll be buying it from Staples though.
