Equipment is all in one to do multiple exercises but switching parts is not always smooth. Pins don’t glide in easily. Takes a while to get the hang of it and slows one down when switching parts to follow exercise video. Maybe more advanced model is easier to use. Wish I had known in advance.

I love the concept behind this machine. I wasn’t terribly impressed that mine arrived with a broken piece (it shipped this way!) and with a squat stand that had a good inch of movement in the pipe fittings and made an unholy amount of noise. I couldn’t hear the instructor on the videos on tv over my machine. Customer service was awesome! I immediately had replacement pieces shipped to me….I guess I just feel like these things should be checked prior to shipping, at least for the amount of money I paid. I don’t regret this purchase at all! The accessories and attachments make this machine an entire gym’s worth of equipment in my home and I love it! However I do worry about the quality and longevity of my machine a little bit because of my experience so far. Fingers crossed I get a good few years!

Glad We Bought It...But...

My husband and I are in our early 60's. We're both more active than some our age, but knew we needed more. I owned a Total Gym 20 years ago and like it. So we decided to put President Trump's tax cut (thank you very much!) to good use by "investing" in a total Gym Fit. Very glad we did!
We've used it for over a month now, and are both feeling the benefits. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to do strength-training at home...BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE ROOM!
Our biggest disappointment is that the machine is NOT easy to fold up and store out of the way. The video clearly shows that you are supposed to pull the black knob at the bottom (that releases the center part) and it's SUPPOSED to STAY OUT! Well...it doesn't! And THAT'S a BIG PROBLEM!
Customer support doesn't have very good hours of availability, so that hasn't been an option. Regardless, the only way WE can fold this very heavy machine is for BOTH of us to do it: I hold the black knob out, and my husband carefully works the device until its's finally together. And then we "walk" it to where we want it.
So for now—and this works for us since we're the only ones living here—we don't bother folding the thing. We just leave it out...which is not a problem because one or both of us use it almost every day.
Is it possible that something's up with the knob on our machine? Possibly. But based on how the machine is designed, I'm thinking no. If you're skilled enough to know EXACTLY where to place the middle column WHILE you're folding it, then the knob WILL stay in place. But if it ever slips back in, it's next to impossible to get the darn think back out. THIS, in my opinion, is a design flaw and should be fixed by Total Gyn in future models. Either that, or they need to change the video that explains how to fold and unfold the device so that "normal people" like us won't get outselves in a heap of trouble. (The video makes it look like a piece of cake...and it's anything but!)

Great for post heart issues. I had a minor heart attack resulting in stents on heart arteries. I wasn’t out of commission for more than a couple of weeks but I lost a lot of my already failing muscle tone. In the 3 months since then through the use of the total gum fit, thecyclo trainer and diet I have lost 30 pounds and am more fit than I have been for 30 years. Make this machine part of a lifestyle change and you can’t go wrong. The machines are well made and after a few uses you will find the routine right for you. I’m 71 and this machine is a must for recovering strength after debilitating health issues.

Is the Fit better than the XLS?

I have owned the XLS for quite a few years and just purchased the Fit so decided to write a review comparing the two. First off. The Total Gym is an excellent home gym system helping me to stay in great shape. I used to go to a gym but feel that I get a better work out on the Total gym. Here are some comparisons of the two that I noticed.
The XLS pros:
-chrome on the upper rails resulting in increased durability compared to the painted rails on the Fit.
-should the glide board on XLS become derailed it is designed such that the upper rails do not get damaged. So be careful to make sure the Fit glide board wheels are secure on the rails before working out as damage can occur.
Fit Pros:
-thicker padding
-more fluid work out
-no flex in post arms when working out as with the XLS
-the pulley connections are sturdier
The Fit is superior in a few ways but I prefer the design of the glide board and chrome rails on the XLS.
The XLS pros:

Easy for Everyone - Great way to get Fit!

Me and my sons started using FIT about 9 months ago. It was hit or miss at first, then in August, I started to get serious. Since then I've lost 20lbs. Of course, it is not exercise alone, good eating habits are also important. My boys are starting to get into a routine too, at least 3x a week. They will be going to High School next year, so looking good is important to them (them being healthy is important to me).
Set up could not be any simpler. Storage is easy (although it does have some weight to it, so individuals who don't lift heavy objects may want to consider putting this in a place where it does not have to move).
Overall - we are very pleased. It has turned us from a family that talks about getting healthy into a family that IS getting healthy.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love it and believe it will help me to reach my goals. However, it is a little heavy and cumbersome, and bit difficult to open and close. The best scenario would be to have a place where it can be left open all of the time, which is not practical for everyone....
