How do people like this pan?

I think I got a reject. My pan has a noticeable notch in the enamel. Everything sticks to it regardless of seasoning, cooking oil, spray, anything. The ridges are impossible to clean. I cooked some marinated steak on it and there is now permanent chunks of blackened whatever in the ridges that all the scrubbing in the world will not remove.
It also smokes like crazy. I realize if I add some oil ( to keep meat from sticking) I should expect a little smoke, but this smokes so much you have to open every window in the house smoky. That is with the burner turned to medium high, anything past low medium and forget it. Too bad I love my other Staub products, but this is trash.

Thank you for your review and for your feedback. Every piece of Staub cast iron cookware is made from a one-use sand mold and absorbs enamel coatings in a distinctive way. Staub’s black matte enamel surface is not non-stick. Using oil will prevent most sticking, yet there still may be sticking which helps to brown, braise, and reduce your meals better. Over time your Staub Braiser will naturally create a non-stick surface on the bottom that you get from seasoning a piece of rough cast iron. Grilling indoors

Grill 4 burgers or chicken breasts. Grill veggies or fruit. Whatever you choose, get beautiful grill marks, thanks to the black enamel. It is a little on the heavy side, but the small helper handle helps even out the weight.

Good Grill Pan

In addition to the usual steak, chicken, or pork, this grill pan is good for grilled vegetables; zucchini, asparagus, tomato halves, portabellas, etc. Easily prepare a meal for one or two by simply placing your protein and vegetable side-by-side on the pan.

This beautiful cherry grill pan is ideal for indoor or outdoor cooking. Dream about summer during the winter months while you grill inside or carry this outside to your grill and achieve the smokiness and texture you want without losing smaller food through the grates. Though this grill pan is a little more tedious to clean, it's worth the work because every time you use it, the cast iron gets even more seasoned promising delicious results every single time!

Superior grilling

I love to use this pan when I want impressive grill marks on my chicken and steak and hamburgers. The fat collects below in the grooves which I really like. The helper handle is necessary for support.

Its steady, even heat distribution for grilling steak, fish, and vegetables are most moist, tender and perfectly cooked dish. A cast iron perfect day-to-day use and be passed from generation to generation. Requires no seasoning and dishwasher safe.

Heavy duty grill pan. This pan makes cooking steaks and chops inside or on the grill easy.
Heats quickly, stays at a consistant temperature through out the entire cooking process and leaves behind perfect restaurant quality grill marks.
