Unpredictable printer. Difficult to use. Poor prin

Printer has poor wi-fi connectivity issues. Printer not connecting easily to pc laptop. Also, unpredictable. Numerous print copies will suddenly print!

Does not scan a 2-sided doc.

Pay attention to the scanning capabilities. We didn't and this model does not scan a two-sided document using the document feeder. While it prints one-sided from a two-sided document, it doesn't scan. On-line information indicates there is a menu option to select two-sided to one scan. A chat with Brother rep took several minutes (great service) only to discover this model actually doesn't have this option.

Basic Printer at a Fair Price

Nice price. Fully functional. Quiet. The toner cartridge replenishment system seems good. Drawbacks: printing of envelopes requires the back to be opened and two switches disengaged. Brother assumes that the printer is standing in an open space. To print envelopes the user (me) must pull the printer away from wall to allow sufficient space to prepare it for envelopes. Then, return the tabs and close the door. The set-up process was confusing. Printed guidance enclosed with the printer was not accurate. On-line guidance (esp. YouTube) was better.

For starters, I received a notice to update firmware. Begin following instructions to do so and am asked for
password, look on back for PWD. Okay. Locate that, screenshot it, and enter. Replies "incorrect password", repeated again and again and again. No luck. So my machine does not recognize password located on machine And, no, password was never changed.
Last Brother MFC I had was sooo much better. This one has already begun squeaking when printing!

NOTE: For the password, the next step would be to reset the network card. If the machine is connected wireless then after resetting the network card it would need to be connected back to your wireless network.

Please be advised, the Brother MFCL2820DW comes with starter toner the yeild about 700 pages.

Genuine Brother toner cartridges are produced with a specific amount of toner to yield the following:

- TN830 Standard Toner, Black - approx. 1,200* pages (black)

- TN830XL High Yield Toner, Black - approx. 3,000* pages

- TN830XL2PK High Yield Toner, Black Twin Pack - approx. 3,000* pages each cartridge

*The approximate toner yield is in accordance with ISO/IEC 19752 (Letter/A4).

The number of pages that can be printed with a toner cartridge is affected by several factors, including paper size, number of pages per print job, amount of print on each page, font size, and print content (graphics, charts, etc.). It's important to remember that a typical printed document is one letter-size (8.5" x 11") page with 4% - 5% print coverage.
