Works great for Time Machine backups!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using Western Electric for years, so I was excited to try this new drive out. I needed a portable backup for my MAC and this was perfect. I connected this up and had Time Machine running on this in no time!
Pros:
Very compact and portable (a little bit taller than a standard deck of cards, but thinner), easy enough to fit into your pocket
Completely quiet, I have never heard a noise from the drive since using it
Works seamlessly with Apple’s Time Machine
The drive is very light-weight and dependable
Cons:
The cable they provide has an adapter to switch from usb to usb-c vs using just a having a standard usb-c ended cable.
Has no rubber feet to keep it from moving around
Overall this is a great product and I would highly recommend this to anyone!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great for storing files

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This review is for WD 2T My Passport™ for Mac. I have been a long time Macbook Pro user and this portable external hard drive is extremely great for backing up all the important files in my laptop. I do most of my work using my Macbook so this is important to me incase something happens to my computer. It works great with Time machine. It is easy to use like any external hard drive. I like that my files are safe in this hard drive because it is encrypted and secured with password protection. This external hard drive is well built. It is portable so I can easily take it anywhere with me. Great product and must have for backing up important datas.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Two Terabytes! I won't need to upgrade for a while

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This little hard drive has changed my life. I have 512 GB of storage on my current MacBook Pro. But after pictures, apps, downloads, and files. I always have been getting the dreaded error message that if I want to continue I need to clear some room on the hard drive. Now all I have to do is plug this into my Mac and boom 4 times as much storage as I originally had. Plus it looks good and works exactly as I would expect. I would recommend this to anyone with a Mac, even if you are not out of storage yet. If you are a file hoarder like me that day will come and this will make your life so much easier. You won't have to make the hard decisions of which precious files to delete! Best Purchase Ever!

WD Passport 1T for mac

The setup is way too complicated. I literally just need storage. It should be the simplest thing there is. I'm having to download software and share information as if it was Adobe Cloud. I shouldn't need a high level of computer literacy to back up my storage. It's. Just Storage.

The best practice is to run the extended test on the drive using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows or First Aid using Disk Utility on a Mac computer. Piece of crap

I bought it over year ago and I barely used this drive. May be 10-20 times max. It failed on me and I lost all the data.

There can a few causes due to which the drive has stopped working. Such causes include the faulty USB port of the drive or the computer, faulty USB cable of the drive or the drive itself may not be getting enough power to spin up and register on the computer to show up. Unsafe ejection of the drive during any read or write operation can also result in the corruption of the drive's partition.

Best practice is to run diagnostics with WD Drive Utilities when a drive does not perform as expected or is behaving abnormally. We recommend avoiding USB hubs for external hard drives and therefore connect the drive directly to a USB 3.0 port on the computer. Dismounts from my Mac every time I'm accessing it

I have 2 of these drives, one for photos and one for my backup, and every time I have them plugged in to my MacBook they dismount from my computer on their own in the middle of a process, causing Lightroom to shut down while I'm working. This has happened since I first got them. My previous WD hard drives did as well. I can no longer imagine an external hard drive that doesn't do this it's become so predictable.

Not compatible with M1 Macs

This Hard-Drive does not work with my new M1 MacBook Pro. The software for the hard drives is not updated... And it does not seem to come soon...
