Wow, what a terrible product. Literally failed on the first day of use. Thought I could maybe save a little money on a hard drive for use only as a data backup... and I was wrong. At least the customer service department was friendly/reasonable enough to allow for a return and refund.

I bought 4 of these 10 GB drives. They were the same model. The raw drives inside the enclosures were all the same model, but with varying dates of manufacture. 3 were in Nov 21, so that was reasonable. One drive was manufactured 3 years ago! Since they wipe out the infomation, it is impossible to tell how long the 3 year drive was run. They all passed the WD extended test suite. It was easy to set up and I was able to copy nearly 2 TB in a reasonable amount of time. It was bigger than I expected. I'm using it as backup so the size is not a problem.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not only was this product a great capacity for the price, it also functions flawlessly with my workstation, even when using files directly from this harddrive.

I bought a re-certified WD Elements drive, the drive was defective, it quit working after 3 weeks of very light duty. Its under warranty so they have to replace it but its an inconvenience.

Good for what it is. Solid build. Bought 2. However the drives run very hot as they are NOT Helium filled dives like they normally are. Returned and bought better Helium filled drives that can handle the heat!
