It's a wonderful device at a great savings. I highly recommend it. I wanted a 5 tb device but they were not available at the time I was ordering. Great little external drive.

Broken after 7 months of light use.

HDD connector/logic board broke after 7 months of use, the only way to get literally all my course files off of this drive now is to spend hundreds on professional data recovery. Save a boat load of money, all your files and a ton of stress and don't buy.

Moreover, The WD Elements Portable External Hard Drive has a precision rotating platter device. Although they are designed to be portable, reasonable care should be exercised to avoid drops from any distance.
Always observe the following precautions while using mechanical drives: Do not drop or jolt the drive. Do not move the drive during the activity. Place the device in a well-ventilated space.

No information about how to use this product was provided. I've no idea if it's working and I have no idea how to retrieve the information saved to this hard drive
